Waypoint Tarp, Car Camping and Tailgating Shelter, Universal Vehicle Mount

This works great if you use your rig to camp in. Easy set up and gives you plenty of shelter

Its a bird, its a plane, No - WAIT - its a 4runner with a cape! As a self proclaimed over-lander ( eg camping with even more stuff, in even more remote areas ) I found this to be a welcome addition to my beastie without adding a ton of weight. I thought about getting an awning, but after camping with friends that had them ( ie a pain to deploy, a pain to put away, since it is stuck to your car and the sun moves, your stuck, you know in the sun... but decided against it. I have used this and it is awesome! I added two extra poles and it has a ton of options! - I Love Love Love the overhang on the sides and it gives plenty of room for two adults a few kiddos or your family fur babies. Tall enough even the 6'2 hubby can stand underneath. Put up is quick, snap snap, bang bang bang and it is deployed. I use the Nite Ize cam-jams and they work like a charm. So if your hanging out at camp this is the trick. Or if your setting up a basecamp and need your rig to get around, try the Noah Tarp (9 or 12 feet), works awesome as well. I have not tried un-hooking it from the rig and coming back to see if was still standing... will post up later when I do, I think it might still be standing, but who knows...

We have this set up as an awning on our travel trailer. It sets up easy and it appears to be very well-made. My only complaint is part of the awning is two layers of fabric and in a torrential rain water gets between the two layers. I haven’t quite figured out how to drain it out of there.

Have had this for 3 years and finally used it for Halloween 2024 and it worked great!! It was windy and rainy where we are and I set this up before the trick or treaters. Easy set up. And I staked out the guide lines and it stood up to the wind and kept us all dry!

This thing is awesome. It quick converts the truck into a convenient base camp. We go to a lot of mountain bike races and this has provided a comfortable inconvenient space.

This is a cool idea and concept BUT….my Subaru ascent hatch could not support the tent. I know it’s not Kelty’s fault. Another reason, we went camping and got caught in a heavy storm. We had to bail at 2 am and I didn’t enjoy having to disconnect everything and pack up. It would have been better for us to just hop in the car and go. We car camp mostly.

So car I love this setup. It's a quick way to get some extra shade and quick to take down and get back on the trail.

My husband researched the Kelty Waypoint Tarp thoroughly before getting it for his birthday. With an ornery back, he doesn’t relish complicated assembly on his relaxing camping trips. It comes with a handy duffel too. He loves that he can camp out of his truck without having to disassemble it at night; the tailgate and rear topper door close without interfering with the Kelty! Plenty of room underneath the tarp for multiple chairs, tables and gear to protect from sun & rain (and this year, hail!!) He’s super happy to have this and the price is fantastic!

It had a little tear in the fabric but that did not change how well it held up in varies weather conditions. On 70mph wind gusts it fell apart while we slept in the roof tent but hey. I don’t expect it to hold up against those kind of gusts
