Review: Great Lock and Fantastic service- - I had ordered this lock to split my Airbnb units to keep tenants from accessing but maid staff could pass easily between the units. I received it quickly and it went to a pile of stuff for the contractors to install. When they got to it, over a month had passed. Upon opening found only the keypads, no other parts. I don't think it was the sellers fault, I seemed by the condition of the packaging that it was a return and desertcart just sent it back out again. I called the number provided if there were problems, left a message and 30min later I got a callback from the seller. I texted him the photos and he apologized up and down with sincerity and two days later I had a complete set mailed to me for the contractors to install. It was simple to figure out and discovered what was also really cool is how to disable the lockouts so the contractors didn't have to enter the code every time they pass through and also less people know the door code. Perfect if you want to let family or friends stay in the unit and have easy access. Looks good, works better than I predicted and hats off to the seller. Will be installing these in all my AirBnb's for pass through door separation. It will need to be welded onto the gate. It comes unfinished so you will need to brush, seal, and paint the box to prevent corrosion or rust. **Q: How do you keep someone from simpliy uncrewing it to gain entry?** A: Some customers add mesh or steel plates to their gate to prevent people from easily reaching around with a screwdriver and unscrewing. Also, there are putties that can be put inside to prevent easy access. Just know in case you have to service the lock or change the code, you will need to access those screws. **Q: We installed ours but ppl can still get in by pushing in where it latches, doesn't lock automatically. Did we do something wrong?** A: That locking mechanism or should I say the strike bolt, has a little half round type bolt on the back side of the main angled portion of the strike where it is supposed to close into the latch plate. You must make sure that that little half round bolt on the backside of the strike is fully depressed when it is closed in the door. Otherwise somebody can just throw a credit card, for a little butter knife or just about any flat piece of anything in there and pop the door open. So you need to adjust the strike plate so that when you close the door it depresses the little half round bolt on the back of the tapered strike that latches the door closed. The problem is most people don't take that into consideration when mounting any lock on a door. If you don't depress the safety lock mechanism within the strike bolt it will be able to be opened easily. It is kind of a tight adjustment but if you get it right And the little half bolt in the back side of the strike depresses and stays depressed when the door is closed the door cannot be opened easily. If you look at the instructions you will see that it states that the safety latch needs to stay depressed when the door is closed. Sometimes it requires that the strike plate be adjusted back slightly to tighten up the latching mechanism or there's also a bendable tab on the strike plate itself that can be manipulated with a pair of pliers so that when the door closes the little half bolt stays depressed. **Q: Can this product installed in existing Kwikset deadbolt cutouts without modification?** A: You will need to check the dimensions of your Kwikset. The keypad for the JOUNJIP Lever lock is 5 9/16" inch long by 1 5/8" inch wide. If your door has the standard boar hole, the only possible modification you will need to make is drilling a hole for the top screw. This lever lock does not have a deadbolt option. It is a latch-style lock as shown in the picture. Just having peace of mind is soo wonderful! ### ⭐ Good idea but not so good product *by C***B on June 23, 2022* We did a lot of research and thought we found the best lock for our metal gate. We ordered it. It arrived fine. When trying to install it, it was so difficult and one little piece broke (a screw extension). The code setting is not easy. The springs that are associated with that little area, can fly off if not careful and good luck finding it. It took us 5 to 6 hrs of pure frustration and no matter what we tried, it was not working. The handles would get stuck and we thought we successfully installed it. We couldn’t open it from the outside but the handle would rotate anyways, it took 2 people with different levels of patience and it all lead to both of us saying “f this”. Unfortunately we had to return it.
