GE 74724 9-Watt Energy-Smart Covered Glass CFL Light Bulbs, 40-Watt Equivalent, 2-Pack

These bulbs are great. I have others like it that I have had for a few years. Those take a while to get to their maximum brightness, but these new bulbs come on instantly. They don't look like ordinary CFL bulbs which is good because they are in a bathroom fixture that normally takes round exposed bulbs.

Takes 30- 45 seconds to get bright light

It's very hard to find this kind of "enclosed" CF bulb in the same shape as a traditional A19 edison-base bulb. I was confident that GE would have a good design and that it would be reliable. The design is indeed great - the neck of the bulb is the "normal" shape, so this will fit in older and vintage light fixtures without a problem. It also looks just like a regular bulb. The color temperature is better than most CF bulbs. The downfall of this bulb, like many CF bulbs I've tested, is that it does not last anywhere near as long as claimed. The package says "Lasts 5 Years" I installed this bulb in my breakfast room in August 2011 and just over a year later in Oct 2012 it burned out. Disappointing.

I ordered these bulbs a while ago and it was a 2-bulb set. I decided to reorder and, seeing 2 bulbs in the picture, ordered again. However, the title clearly states that it is now 1-bulb. Please update the picture to accurately illustrate the product. Otherwise, the product provides very nice light, but at 1 bulb for $10, too expensive.

I use these in my bathroom vanity mirror, and they are much nicer than the bluish glass incandescent variety. Only problem is Amazon's price is about double what Home Depot regularly charges for a pair of these. Shop around.

We are very pleased with the performance and pricing of these bulbs........we recently purchased a new floor lamp which accommodates three bulbs and we installed the GE 74724 9 watt bulbs. Light output is perfect.

These are the same crappy blinking florescent lights. For the same nine bucks you can get LED light bulbs these days, if you look hard enough. CFL is a fancy name for florescent bulbs. GE is a big on old technology. New technology is LED. Easy on the eyes because they dont blink like the florescents' do. Have you ever seen yourself in the mirror in florescent lighting? Kind of scary isn't it? This bulb is not worth more than 50cents. GE is late in the game and they want to charge the prices they were selling for, when they just came out.
