GFCI detect the leagage by the balance between the hot and neutral currents ,when the people get the eletric shock or our home appliance get the leagage ,it will caused the imbalance between the hot and neutral currents. For this situation, the GFCI will trip off automatically. So, without the ground wire will not infulence the usage of the GFCI. One was defective and was replaced promptly with a personalized letter of apology from Topele. All 5 are still working perfectly after over a year. Our school policy is to put any GFCI outlet into TEST mode if it is within child height, so we have to RESET them every time we need to use them. They are holding up fine. The one that is not within child height does not trip accidentally and works good. It is a good price for tamper resistant feature. It was cross wired with one of these receptacles in a different location ( I don’t know if it’s just my luck, but there appears to be no rhyme or reason to how things are paired).The connections’ metal color is similar with the one it replaced( silver and gold) so it was not confusing.I do not like stabbed receptacles as they tend to overheat, and this looked like one so I damaged the threads on a screw trying to make room for wire to be wrapped. It does not work like that.On closer inspection, it is not a stab connection as there are metal plates inside that are tightened by the screw.I reused a screw from the old outlet, but it’s best not to damage it to begin with.So don’t try to wrap the wire around the screw, it’s not long enough and you will damage the threads. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install and priced well *by H***F on Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2022* These are a great value. I have installed 20 in a 1929 ungrounded house to allow for code passage as the only means of having a three prong outlet. While these are generally standard size I'd you are replacing them in a old house the box can be very tight as they were made for smaller outlets prevously. I recently had an electrician in to run a new main line to the house he tested and inspected some outlets to make sure everything was up to par and said the installation and outlet was better than most he had seen. I highly recommend LEVER connectors over nuts and if code allows a short connector rather than a direct connect to the outlet.In a prevous comment there was a permanent indicator light on. This means the unit is incorrectly installed. (This can be extremely difficult to figure out.) This generally occurs when connecting multiple outlets downline. It can be unintuitive but once you overcome the annoyance it is a great sign they are correctly wired.
