I used to eat salmon at least twice a month - it was the best thing I knew how to cook. This book made me feel physically sick and hugely angry. Suffice to say I will no longer support the industry in its current format. I am not a Tasmanian but have visited Tasmania as a child with my mother. I have travelled extensively since but the landscape and the beauty of Tasmania's nature has stuck with me always. I cannot believe our government allows for this to go on. It's deeply saddening and I hope that the salmon industry will be heavily reformed post-haste. What absolutely struck me was the literal warfare that is being waged against Tasmanians and the fur seals alike. This was a compelling and well researched read which I couldn't pull away from. Thank you to the author for writing this. And also hopeful that this work will reach, inspire and arm readers and all those with the power to do so, to stop the destruction of people and habitat carelessly and wilfully caused by the board, executives and management of corporate salmon farming and government in Tasmania over the last 30 years. Hopeful that these individuals can and will be held responsible and accountable for what they have done and continue to do. I was horrified, appalled, saddened and angered as I read this book. I gave up eating Tasmanian salmon, a fish I used to love, some years go, as evidence started coming out about the malpractices of the salmon farming industry.
