From actor and comedian Joel McHale comes the most important celebrity-penned book of this, or any, generation. Part shocking tell-all memoir, part aspirational how-to guide, and mostly all book, this one-of-a-kind tome is required reading for anyone who enjoys Hollywood gossip, get-rich-gradually tips, and copious illustrations and charts. โโฆ Thanks for the Money is a clever, much-needed antidote to the age of celebrity book deals. If the tide canโt be stopped, at least it can be mocked.โโ EW.com Joel McHale pulls back the curtain on his personal journey to stardom! Here, for the first time, Joel reveals all that has molded him into the acclaimed comic actor he is today: a love of performance, a series of boyhood head injuries, and most importantly, a passion for financial compensation and free shoes. Itโs all here: Joelโs career trials and tribulations, his criminal trials and tribulations, and an honest, unflinching list of all the people heโs been paid money to make out with, on camera. But the book does not stop there! Because if you want wealth, fame, and cost-free footwear, Joel will share every vital tip he has learned: an insanely low-carb diet plan, how to escape from a certain pseudo-religious celebrity cult, and more! How can you unlock the power of the Joel McHale who lurks inside? What happened when Joel fought his Community co-star Chevy Chase? And hey, while weโre at it, whatโs up with Joelโs hairโreally? All will be revealed, within the pages of Thanks for the Money . Buy now, and receiveโas a special bonusโan email receipt that details your purchase! Review: Freakin' hilarious - First, I will start with a disclaimer that I'm a big Joel McHale fan. However, I'm also objective and have no problem with saying like all comedic actors I love, I didn't love everything they appeared in. But given that Joel has a great sarcastic, self-deprecating humor, I thought I'd give this book a try. And lo and behold, I found this book very entertaining. In fact, during a recent 36-hour power outage at my house, I was very grateful to have this book to read by flashlight and pretend I was back in Little House on the Prairie days with no cable or internet to pass the time. I loved reading about his early days of his career auditioning and appearing in commercials, and how he just made the 5-year deadline he gave himself to start getting acting jobs. And all the footnotes and remarks about his "hair" were fabulous. As many times as he refers to his good looks (which he can remark on all he wants because he has earned it), you can tell he also deals with uncertainties and flaws and knows that he needs to be grateful for what he has because you never know...and I'm very much looking forward to the next book. The humor mixed with revealing his personal challenges (in a sarcastic way) was perfect. #sixseasonsandamovie. Review: Hilarious book if you enjoy his sense of humor - Hilarious book if you enjoy his sense of humor, have never laughed out loud so many times while reading a book. This is not the book to read before bed, every time I would try and read before bed I would be up for an hour or more laughing my ass off. Good stuff!

Funny book, quick read
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book; I haven't read any celebrity books, so I had no prior experience with anything in this genre. It took me a couple of chapters to really catch on to his style and the purpose of the book. Overall, I really enjoyed it, and it was a quick read. It would have been nice to have borrowed it from a library, though, or even just paid a little less, but that's just being nitpicky about price. If you're a fan of Joel McHale, chances are you'll enjoy it!

I had higher hopes
Being from Seattle I love seeing local people do well. I like Joel McHale and find him funny and a good actor. The book simply wasn't very funny and I just think I expected more. It's a decent read but it definitely wasn't what I expected.

Six Seasons And A Movie... and Another Book??
With the confirmation of Community's "...and a movie," I rewatched the entire six seasons, plus youtubes, zooms, and interviews and such. Somewhere in there, I discovered Jeol* wrote a book. So I bought it. It's hilarious. The filler is even funnier than the tell-alls, and his sweet side seeps out no matter how he tries to hide it. Plus, his shirt is dumb. 10 out of 10, would throw money at a sequel. *his spelling, not a typo

Made Me Laugh
It's tough to be sarcastic with the written word, but if anyone could do it it's Mr. McHale. Best $2 I ever spent on a book, and it's just perfect for spending time on the throne.

Hoped for a biography
Love the soup. His stand up. Community. But the sardonic nature coupled with an irittatingly dense footnote section on EACH PAGE is too much. He rarely comes up for breath to show the person behind the wit. The childhood stories are pretty funny.

One of the funniest books I've read in a long time
I am a huge Community fan, so I bought this expecting some good Chevy Chase stories. Those are definitely in here, but it's just the overall comedy of this book that impressed me. The stuff about Joel growing up with reckless brothers, weird stories from his early, pre-Soup days... all of it is super funny. It's rare that a book will actually make me laugh out loud, but this one did. There are also a lot of funny charts and photos, so the whole thing reads similar to the Daily Show's "America" and the Colbert Report books. A must for any Community or comedy fan.

You felt the writing made him look like an egotistical a-hole
Don't pay attention to the other 1 star review as they clearly do not have any sense of humour. You felt the writing made him look like an egotistical a-hole? The book is literally called "Thanks for the Money: How to Use My Life Story to Become the Best Joel McHale You Can Be". Clearly did not get the joke (end rant) Anyways, this book, especially the audiobook, is fantastic! If you even enjoy a small amount of Joel's humour and comedic style, you will love it. It's a must read for anyone that's a fan of Community and/or The Soup.

This is a really funny book. It's kind of impressive
This is a really funny book. It's kind of impressive. The one aspect that I was disappointed was that for some reason I thought there would be actual fitness tips but it's just more funny jokes. This book is a joke, a really funny joke.

Good gift for Joel Mchale fans
Purchased as a gift for my brother who is obsessed with Joel McHale and he was really happy with it. The book was delivered quickly, and I had a little look through it and saw it fit it's description well. Shame his Netflix show got cancelled
