It has some limitations and a very annoying bug with IOS devices. With IOS devices, there is an intermittent bug such that as an IOS device moves from one AP to another AP with the same SSID (ie. roaming between APs), it will sometimes not reconnect to the new AP. It sometimes just drops the wifi connection (so your iPhone in your pocket is now no longer on the Wifi network). Sometimes when you unlock the iPhone, it will reconnect to the closest AP, and sometimes you will need to go into Settings and select the SSID (at which point it connects immediately). With this behavior, it appears that the AP has a bug that rejects IOS devices when roaming under certain circumstances. According to the support forums, this bug has been around since mid 2017 at least, and so far no resolution from Linksys.Note that I had moved from Apple Express APs to these Linksys APs and had no roaming issues at all with the Apple Express units.The limitation I found is that the unit will not support 802.11r fast transition between the two Wifi bands (2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz) when you use a single SSID between them. The unit treats the same SSID on the two bands as two different SSIDs and will not allow 802.11r to work between these SSIDs.Other than that, this is a nice AP with some good qualities (other than the price!). But until the IOS bug gets solved, you should stay away from this AP (and maybe other Linksys APs) if you plan on getting more than one and roam between them.UPDATE: I found a work around - if you do not manage all APs in a cluster, then iOS handoffs between APs works OK. Unfortunately this means you have to make changes to ALL APs instead of having a single management console for them, but you usually don't have to mess with it too much (at least in a home environment. In a work environment, forget it!). You still have the issue where you can't use 802.11r fast roaming if you use a single SSID spanning the two bands.Linksys support did call me, but after two calls from a level 1 support person, they never followed up with an engineer, so that went nowhere. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ No handoff. :'( *by R***3 on Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2017* While a good, high-power AP with MANY useful features (such as clustering), it is missing one CRITICAL feature to utilize that function - handoff. This model has literally no handoff features.I wish I'd known how important this would be before I bought a few of them. Unfortunately, since this model does not, my roaming WiFi devices constantly disconnect and then reconnect as they move between APs.Aside from that though, the range is INCREDIBLE, but without this feature, I'd hardly call it "business-class". ### ⭐⭐ Very bulky, much hard to manage users, settings than other competitor brand *by V***T on Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2017* I bought these access points to go against the unifi ac lr access points to see which as better range and speed. First of all, setting ac1200 was pain. There is no cloud controller so that you can turn the ap on and find it on the controller and then manage it from there. You have to physically connect your computer with Ethernet cable to the same router where this ap is connected to , then find the IP address of this ap and then the usual process of setting it up like you would with linksys or netgear routers. The management panel of the ac 1200 is very much outdated and complicated than unifi controller.Design:Very bulky, yet not even a bit higher wifi range than smaller in design APs.Speed:Speed was pretty much same as the unifi ac lr at most of the time... I say most time because rest of the times my UAP AC LR would have speed of 70 mbps down and 15 mbps up , and ac1200 would have half of that.Range:Range is pretty much same as UAP LR if not less JUST A LITTLE BIT. At times UAP AC LR would show full bars and AC1200 would fluctuate between full bar to one bar less.Management:I applied these solutions in a hotel that I own. On days like friday and saturday, I would have close 70 people using the wifi and they all want fast internet. Sometimes, some folks can not connect to the wifi so I would have to manually authorize their device.
