So very, very compelling for the price
First, I rarely publicly review purchases and I'm offering this only after owning it for 6 weeks. The reason I chose to take the time to do this is because this watch hits a homerun for me..."Your experience may differ." Second, for context, I'm a Seiko-kinda-guy. This is probably my 15th-ish of the brand, starting with my first "nice" watch as my wedding present a couple decades ago. I've added a couple Astron GPS' (incl. 2012 1st Edition and 2014 Limited), Premier, Arctura, Kinetic, Recraft, etc. I've sold a few and I'm learning to discipline my purchases...sorta. I'm also a collector of world timers and GMTs (JLC, Nomos, Frederique Constant, IWC, Omega, Ocaeanus, Citizen, etc). I appreciate practicality, beauty and value but I've traveled a lot and have latched onto the convenience and wonder of a unique world timer. What I love about the SSG019 in particular: 1) multi-time zone with cities around the thin-but-legible black bezel that are pretty subtle; 2) gorgeous multi-patterned dial with THE deepest royal blue and silver silver accents. It's absolutely stunning in direct sunlight. Seriously, how this practical (solar!?!) and stunning dial did not get more attention in horological media is beyond belief but hopefully that just keeps prices down; 3) the dial is not overly busy. The day/date/24hr/time zone indicators are just the right amount for efficient travelers. Me, I don't need a chrono or moon phase on a travel watch; 4) speaking of, the asymmetric real estate of the day-of-week indicator is unexpected from Seiko and cool. Screw symmetry--it might be one of my favorite aspects of any watch that I own!; 5) Solar AND Radio Wave--no muss, no fuss! No winding, no time setting, and no need to rebuild every 5-10 years. (In contrast, I'm seriously dreading the cost of overdue service on my JLC Master Geo). 6) The blue flourish on crown is not quite Cartier Ballon Bleu but it's a nice and unexpected touch on a sub-$1k quartz watch. Conversely: 1) I love bracelets and this is better than average for a (non-Grand) Seiko but I wish I had the option of a strap if I'm feeling squirrely; 2) I it's pretty big (44mm x 13mm) and you have to like a medium-weight watch. I get used to my titanium daily-wearers and I really feel the weight of this, which is good for a change, but I don't know if I want to have this on my 7.5" wrist every day; 3) The hands are of great design but the lume sucks. Face it, you're going to look at your phone or Fitbit if it's dark anyway. Bottom line, I think Seiko nailed the design and execution on this one. Why a drop-dead-gorgeous tech-enabled-but-simple solar/radio sync watch like this isn't premium priced is absolutely beyond me. In a parallel marketing universe, this is easily a $4,000-$5,000 watch. Would I want it as my one and only? Quite possibly, but I like variety too much. I can, however, definitely see this as a 1-of-3 or "desert island" watch due to the practicality, beauty and affordability.

Best watch I’ve owned by far!
I’ve waited 6 months to write a review on this watch to see how I like it. It’s absolutely fantastic in its looks and functionality. I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews. The biggest complaint was that it requires manually adjusting the watch for daylight savings times. This is true but it’s absolutely a no brainer! Just push and hold the B button and then scroll between the A and B buttons to move the time forward or back an hour. All you have to do is remember this one thing after it’s all set up. I actually look forward to traveling to different time zones or daylight savings time….so I can push the B button and watch the the hour hand move forward or backward. In a digital age it’s cool to see something work mechanically. Now the bad, the watch is fairly complicated to understand all the adjustments and settings. Setting the small 24hr dial is difficult and you can’t even see it anyway. It really has little function except it looks nice. I never use it and will not waste anytime trying to set it again. The directions for setting this watch are complicated so I made my own simplified version. Then I spent a lot of time going through all the settings and learning how to set it. 6 months later I would have to go back and look to change anything The cool thing is I will never have to! The date is updated automatically….a first for me, every watch I’ve owned I have to manually change the date. It connects to the atomic clock about 2-3 times a week and I never take it off. Don’t mess around trying to set it up to get a signal. It’s super accurate, mirroring the time on my cell phone. In conclusion. This watch has stunning looks, very functional with a day of the week and date that are easily visible and update automatically. Easily adjusted for daylight savings and super accurate. Also very affordable compared to GPS watches. You could spend more money but you would have a hard time getting a better watch. Buy it and you will never regret it. My review is a 4.8 out of 5. Only negative is the 24hr dial. It’s hard to set and see to use, really just for looks.

Very happy with the whole process of my purchase
Nice watch...Good price includes box, warranty documentation and quick setup instructions but you do need to download or view online manual because of a decision by Seiko. Watch is great but wish that Seiko did not use the second hand to show charge instead of live seconds and leaves seconds in a very small sub window...I am happy with seller and they answered a question that I had within hours.

Amazing Watch...but complicated to set
This is an amazing watch! It is very sleek and stylish, and I truly enjoy wearing it. However, I found it rather complicated to set for the first time. While there are several videos and directions available, they are not easy to follow. I ultimately took it to a jeweler to have a link removed and to get it set. It took him two hours to complete, but for $30, it was well worth the money.

Gorgeous Seiko Watch Worthy of the "Seiko" Brand Name
This is just flat-out a gorgeous watch. It has a dress appearance and is best used as a dress watch, although I am sure some people use it for everyday wear. It has a black face with all gold hands and markings, and then a mixture of gold and silver for both the case and the band. The method of coloring on the case and band make it so that the watch will look either more gold or more silver, depending on which angle you are viewing from. If you look carefully at the out ring of the black face, you will see concentric trace markings which add an elegance to the watch but are probably also part of the antenna system the watch uses to keep time. Yes, that's right, this particular model, once you set it up, connects with the nearest official time broadcast and keeps itself adjusted to that signal, the reason why this particular model is more expensive than other Coutura watches which look almost identical but do not have this radio function. And, yes, hooray, that same timing function keeps the date accurate month-to-month as well! The watch has a nice heft to it, but its bracelet is comfortable due to the use of soft curves, and this makes the weight less of an issue. It has one of traditional Seiko clasp functions where you squeeze the outside of the band to unlock the bracelet, and then a double-fold mechanism angles out, allowing you to remove the watch while reducing the possibility of dropping it since the band always stays connected (great design). The stem is a screw-down type so that you unscrew it first before engaging it, and then screw it back down when you are done making adjustments. This is a beautiful watch that really does seem worth more than you pay for it, and it has an elegance that is squarely in the mid-range Seiko line-up. It's terrific. But I would be remiss if I did not mention that this is a complicated watch to set up when you first receive it. There are four case buttons plus the stem that you must use in a very specific order to set the time zone, then ensure you are picking up the radio signal from your area, and making minute first adjustments. It's not impossible, but it's not for those in a hurry, either. You have to take your time to read the instructions very carefully and follow the procedures exactly as stated, or you won't get the watch into its initial state. And it really is a bit complicated: you basically end up using all the controls to do different things, need to set the watch next to a window for 12 minutes at a certain point in the sequence (I'm not joking), and then make sure you press the correct buttons in the correct sequence. I must say it took me about 30 minutes of studying the instructions and then about 30 minutes to actually follow all the procedures, a couple of which I had to re-do because I had done them incorrectly. But the ultimate payoff after that is that the watch keeps time by itself from that time on, and all you have to do is ensure it gets some light now and then (the battery is solar-powered, but has a very long cycle to it and can be charged even with indoor light). I wouldn't let the complications at the beginning make you hesitant to purchase it, but just be aware that you need to do the startup procedures at the beginning. A truly beautiful watch, it's one that you will want to try to take care of because you'll want to keep it for a long time. Five stars.

execellent watch in many ways
I am very satisfied with this watch for the past 3 years. It keeps the time correctly with elegant styling (Sapphire crystal). There is almost no need to hand adjust the time (date). The time zone adjustment is great. There is no need to change batteries since it is solar powered. I learned not to adjust the time zone during flight. I also learned if the date is wrong, use manual adjustment and not waiting for automatic corrections. Other than the two things, the watch requires no maintenance.

A large and great watch!
I am a huge lover of Seiko watches. I like the styling of this watch very much. The dial is a very special kind of blue. The whole design of the dial is rather unique. It shows the time quite clear. Also the sub-dial is very clear. You can let the sub-dial show the time of your own time zone or another one, just what you want. Also the day hand is at the right place and easily visible. The numbers of the date are a bit small, but no problem for me. The watch is very easy to handle. The only things you have to do is (1) selecting the time zone. That is very easy. Then (2) you can conduct a manual reception of the radio signal (or wait until 2 AM then it will go automatically, but I didn't wanted to wait that long). You only have to push one button to start the manual reception. The second hand will show you if the reception level is high or low. You can check any moment of the day the last reception results. The second hand will show you Y (yes) or N (no). After that there is nothing more to do. The date too will be set by the radio signal. And because the radio signal will synchronize your watch every night it won't be necessary to set it anymore. Only if you travel to another time zone, you'll need to set the zone again. The watch will automatically set itself to the local time. I live in the Netherlands and receive the radio signal from Germany here. The watch is very accurate, as is usual for a Seiko. Although the watch is large and heavy, it is very comfortable to wear. Also the band is robust and comfortable. Wearing this watch I get much attention. It is really an eye catcher. I love the design of this watch, but that is a personal matter of course. It is a very distinct design. I am very satisfied with this watch and could not find any imperfection. So, 5 star. I would buy it again for sure! PLEASE NOTE : You can only use the radio controlled function of this watch if you live in an area were you can receive a time transmitting station. So before purchasing it is advisable to check. If not you can only use it as a normal quartz watch (loss/ gain about 15 seconds a month on average). It is no problem to do the time setting manually.

Techno Marvel
Looks fantastic. But, man, those features! It's a LOT of watch for the money and perfect for those who like to travel, or those who just like gadgetry. Super high geek factor on this one. Solar Powered - awesome. Radio Sync (to the atomic clock, no less) - mind expanding. Easy indexing to all the time zones around the world - super cool. Day/Date - indispensable. Definitely read the manual on this superlative timepiece to get the most from it. If you live in a country with access to an atomic clock signal (US/UK/Large swaths of the EU/China/Japan) this feature is a must have for your watch collection. It auto-syncs or manually syncs to the atomic clock. You can check signal strength or confirm if the last connection was successful. If you keep the watch level and pointing in the correct orientation it will connect every night. Without a connection your accuracy is +/- 15 seconds a month. So if you connect every night you can't ever be off by more than 1/2 a second. That is awesome sauce poured on top of a very tasty looking watch. The intense blue of the dial is very eye catching. The hour minute and second are easily read as is the day and date. The 24 hour subdial is a bit cramped, but you get used to it quickly once you remember each quadrant is 6 hours rather than 3. I like to keep my subdials set for wherever I intend my next destination to be, but you could use it just to keep military time locally. The bracelet style band is easy to adjust with the proper tools, the clasp is very secure and intuitive in operation and the whole is very comfortable. The watch itself has a very good heft, but sits nicely on the wrist all day. I'm really happy I've added this watch to my burgeoning collection. Great styling. Outstanding features. A very cool piece of kit.

Very Handsome Watch
This is a very well made impressive looking watch. I own several watches and got this one because of its unique features. It’s a wonder to watch it adjust its self inline with the atomic clocks and it is second perfect. Couldn’t find it in the U.K. so ordered through Amazon global, it arrived from Miami in 3 days.
