This is a very nice first chess board for kids or adults. We were shocked at the quality of the real wood the board is made of and it appears to be a regulation board as well. Even the staining appears to be done well. The games pieces (pawns, rooks, knights,bishops, Queens and Kings ) are hand carved as well and you simply can't beat the price point for the quality you are getting. We love that the game pieces are magnetic and the board is truly aesthetically appealing as well. Give your kids this fun and very educational game to increase their problem solving skills.

Magnets are not very strong. Otherwise it's ok

Purchased as gift. Box has arrived with sticky tape around the box (so can't open to look). Box has spelling mistakes, e.g. "enteryaining". Nervous about the quality on the inside.

This is a quality chess set. Nice esthetics. Strong magnets hold pieces in place even on an incline. Nice clasps. Pieces are held in place on the inside when stored. Very statisfield with this set, just what I was hoping for.

It is NOT magnetic. Just a normal chess set. I spent lots of time to find this as it was saying magnetic.
