Shine without ultra-gloss!
Works perfectly if underlying layers are cured (or almost so). Brings out the colors beautifully. Satin finish is great - adds a shine without an overwhelming gloss. Seems to dry relatively fast (about 3 days).

Gamvar Gloss Varnish
Yep. Did the job. A tiny bit of tackiness due to gloss finish but not sticky. All good.

Makes my paintinghs look great
I use Gamvar on all my oil paintings. It is so easy to apply, dries to a smooth satiny finish and really brings the painting to life. Highly recommend.

Must follow the directions for best results
Instructions say to put on a thin layer. Be sure to do this. I put on too much and 1. It didn't dry 2. Looked as if I put a plastic film over the oil painting. The nice thing is you can remove the varnish (video on line) and start over if you are unhappy with the end product.

Good quality
This is a good quality product. I recently mixed a 1:5 ratio of this and Gamsol and used as a retouch varnish. It worked nicely. Note* a little goes a long way, use very thinly.

Works on my art
I paint with water based oil and this seals the picture nicely. It goes on smoothly with just the right sheen.

Less glare
Someone recommended this varnish over the glossy one. Still gives it a nice pop with color and some shine but toned down. I'm using the satin from now on.
