Sewing Machine Basics for Children: A fun step-by-step guide to machine sewing

This is a great introduction to sewing skills book that I'm using with my 9 year old granddaughter. So far she's made the drawstring backpack, reversible skirt and knot bag and we have several other projects we're interested in trying. We're having a lot of fun planning for and completing the projects.

This was the 2nd book that I had ordered for my 8 year old granddaughter. The first book was a very big disappointment. This book has a full chapter dedicated to the needed tools to get started with. It described various steps that you need to do before you even start to sew on a project. Well written, photos were colorful and there were excellent drawings and patterns for the subjects and the projects. Hope it will create a love of sewing and especially quilting in the granddaughter. If so, she will be the 5th generation of ladies in my family to embrace the love of the art. Thank you to Angela Pressley for writing just wonderful book.

I wanted a sewing book to use with my 12-year-old granddaughter. I couldn't be more pleased with this book! It has various sewing levels: easy peasy; you're on your way; you've got this; and you're a star. The projects are very creative; the instructions are clear; and the illustrations are colorful. There are some pattern templates that are full-size, and others that you would have to photocopy at 200%. But for most of the projects, patterns are not even needed. I'll admit that neither my granddaughter nor I have had the time to actually get together to sew, but I know she would like this book. I may just give it to my daughter and have her use it. The book is very well done.

I get ideas from this book to use with granddaughter

Cute, simple projects that use all the basics of sewing. Looking forward to gifting it to a young person that wants to know how to use their mom's sewing machine.

Really clear directions and fun projects for a first-time machine sewer!

I am successfully using this book to teach my granddaughter to sew. Lots of projects to do in the book makes it fun.
