These work for my 2 year old son however a friend of his (same age) knows how to pull them off. So it's a hot or miss with some kids but definitely does the trick for us.

I have several window and portable AC units in my house and these were exactly what I needed to add security and help create a good seal around the AC units. I have a portable AC installed in a first floor window, and the window lock helps keep the window in position to hold the vent hose setup in place while also not allowing the window to be opened any further. For the window ACs, these locks help make sure the window stays closed tightly to create a good seal with the weather stripping I added between the window sash and AC unit. I feel they also add safety by keeping the window closed so the window AC can’t be pushed/pulled out. My only wish is that these came in white to match my vinyl windows. Work great in horizontal and vertical opening windows.
