Put 10 grams of shikakai, 10 grams of reetha and 5 grams of dried amla in a pan and cover with 3 cups water. Let them soak for 8 to 10 hours. Heat the mix till it starts to boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 15 to 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it cool. When it comes to the room temperature, crush the reetha, shikakai, and amla/peels with your hand to extract all the liquid. Strain before use. I put this in ice-cube trays to freeze in individual portions. I also add a variety of herbs and spices to color my hair and add highlights.
