Very strange writing style
This seems to have a weird writing style that I just couldn't get in to. I got 50 pages in and didn't care about the story or characters and decided to put it down, for the sole reason that the I couldn't figure out why it would have been written like that. It was almost, infantile in places.

Abandoned
I'm a quarter of the way into this and am giving up. Don't like the writing style (lots of staccato sentences), don't like the pretentiousness of the main character, don't like how everyone is great looking. Don't understand why Manny sleeps on the floor. More importantly - don't like any of the characters so don't care what happens to them

Brilliant
Alan says he is going to be my favorite mystery writer for the next twenty years. He just might be. At the rate I’m going through his books though he’s going to have to write a lot faster.

Wise Guy August
I wasn't sure about the subject when I started reading but was quickly hooked when I met August, little Kix and Manny. The storyline is solid, the wisecracks continuous and the narrative between August and Kix is hilarious
