## Overview

The Cardone 66-4232 New CV Constant Velocity Drive Axle Shaft is engineered for optimal performance, featuring durable neoprene boots, precision-rolled threads, and a hassle-free installation process. This axle assembly is designed to meet OE specifications, ensuring a perfect fit and long-lasting reliability.

## Description

CARDONE's extensive experience in testing and engineering CV Drive Axles is the foundation behind our proprietary method of engineering a product that meets and even exceed O.E. performance. We have researched the reasons why original CVs typically fail and designed new solutions to avoid repeat failure. For example, our Neoprene boots are designed with additional bellows, when needed, to resist bellow stress and ozone cracking - the leading cause of boot failure. Additionally, all CV Drive Axle shafts are individually verified for straightness, resulting in vibration-free performance at all speeds.

Review: Perfect fit - 2008 Honda Civic - My Civic has 172k miles, planning on buying a new car within a year or so, but the clunking noises when turning got bad and then the boots went and I knew I had to replace the axles. These were a perfect fit, both left and right side, the noises are gone, and the car drives noticeably better. And they're new, not remanufactured. Don't mess around with bad CV axles. If one fails completely it can be very dangerous. And don't be scared to install them. It's literally removing 3 nuts, one bolt, prying the axle out, and slipping the new one in. There are a number of very good videos out there, and I'd suggest the procedure disconnecting the ball joint, as if you remove the lower part of the strut mount you will need an alignment. The ball joint is a little challenging to reinstall as you need quite a bit of force to pry down the A-arm, but with a good pry bar it's not bad. A few intallation tips: 1) Do one side at a time and jack up one side at a time. With the car angled to one side you won't lose any significant tranny fluid when you pop the axle out. I had a few drops on one side, nothing on the other. 2) The right side can be difficult to pry out as a large pry bar won't fit. I had success with a 16" beefy flathead screwdriver that I picked up at Harbor Freight for about 9 bucks. 3) Torque the ball joint nuts down to the correct torque. They don't need much and overtightening is no good. I believe the spec is 43 ft lbs but don't quote me on that. Check for yourself. 4) Don't forget to hammer the nut into the recess to lock it in place on the shaft. That nut needs to be torqued with the wheel on and the car on the ground. Spec is 134 ft lbs, but again, double check that. These axles come with a new nut. Everything is complete. You literally need nothing but the axles for the installation. I can't speak to longevity as I just installed these but I saved about $500 over the lowest quote I received. Entire job took me about 3 hours, but that included a trip down to pick up a tool. If I had to do it again it'd probably be less than an hour per side.
Review: Easy installation and it functions as it should. - Installed this cv axle today on my 2008 Honda Civic. It was easy to install and it fit like a glove. The cv axle looks to be of good quality but time will tell for sure. So far so good and it functions as it should.
