Flushed with pride
I was staying in an apartment with a toilet that uses one of these mechanisms. The handle was broken, so I had to leave the lid off the toilet so I could flush it. It was easy to install and works perfectly, so I'm flushed with pride over my plumbing skills.

A most welcome upgrade to the mechanical linkage
We've replaced (4) mechanical linkages for our yoga studio commodes over the years. These work great; the mechanical ones were forever slipping off the hook and needing to be reset on a regular basis. These have been working very well for several years. The only complaint is that we've had one cable break and had to purchase the entire kit to get the cable.

Do yourself a favor and get this.
Replaced my old Geberit PF/2 150-403 with a Flushmate 503. Got this handle as I was not sure the Flushmate kit I was getting from amazon came with a handle (some reviews said it did but product description said it didn't). Either way I am glad I got this. While I don't have the link system to compare it to I really like the way this works and it seems very sturdy. It makes the handle spring loaded so it snaps back to horizontal and takes very little effort to push and flush. The link system on my old tank was getting goofy and sometimes would slip out of the handle. Since I am apparently the only one in the house that could figure out how to put it back together this was $30 well spent.

Works on Front and Side Handle Toilets
Called Flushmate because the installation video showed a front handle toilet and mine is a side handle. They said it would work and it did. I'm a girl and installed it in less than 15 minutes. I would make sure you have one of those magnetic poles in case you drop a screw.

Flushmate -Poor design. Poor quality. Poor customer serice.
The Flushmate toilet handle system e uses a cable from a plastic frame above the actuator to a cassette which attaches to the flush handle's stem. Pressing down the handle pulls the cable contained in the cassette. The other end of the cable presses down on the frame which pushes down the actuator thus flushing the toilet. The first Flushmate toilet handle system I purchased lasted about three months. The cassette broke. I called Sloan Flushmate and was told item was under warranty and that a replacement cold be sent to me. The rep first wanted proof of purchase and photo(s) of broken cassette. I took photos of any pieces I could find in the trash and promptly emailed requested items. In the meantime, I got a replacement from Amazon in two days. The replacement I bought lasted about one month. Again I emailed Sloan Flushmate and said the cassette had broken again. It turned out that the end of the cable in the frame broke. Both defective parts were genuine Sloan Flushmate parts. Again, I contacted Sloan Flushmate No response The toilet handle turns a cheap plastic piece in the cassette that pulls on the cable. The other end of the cable is a thin plastic piece that fits into the frame above the actuator.. The cable pulls down the frame which presses the actuator. A poor design is not helped by inferior parts. My Flushmate 503 came with the lift rod system which had also broken and this item being reviewed was its replacement. Lift rods are no longer sold by Sloan Flushmate. If you buy a toilet with a Sloan Flushmate flush assist device, you are stuck. It cannot be removed to convert the toilet to a gravity flush system for technical reasons I cannot explain. I just replaced my toilet with a Kohler gravity flush model. In marked contrast to Sloan Flushmate, Kohler representatives are very responsive and helpful.

It works and it fits
It works and it fits and that is all it matters, I have a jet flush toilet with horizontal outlet on the back and it only works with a pressure assist tank , or such a nostalgic 10 feet high tank what I do not have the space for. I was lucky the pressure assist ( 503 ) tank fit in my existing ceramic flush tank but the only way to get it triggered was either drilling a hole in the lid and put a knob with a rod on there. or buy this trigger mechanism.... see how long it last. I like it so far . The toilet is in my little hobby workshop and it is not used this often , but the flush works now in a heart beat . It empties the bowl in a half second....now I have one problem less in life

The standard flush mechanism for the toilet is a two piece, loose fit design which tends to separate from each other frequently resulting in the flush valve failing to activate. It was very frustrating having to remove the lid and reconnect the two pieces every day. With this unit, the cable trigger is easy to install, a 10 minute job at best and has not failed yet since being installed. This was an additional cost as after market equipment but I think Flushmate should make it a standard piece of equipment, even if it adds to the original cost of the toilet system. I should have purchased this in the first place and saved myself a lot of frustration. Highly recommended.

Cable seems to be the weakest link and you can't just replace it alone so you have to spend way to much on the whole kit. Please fix the weak cable connection.

Whole kit is easy to install and adjust an d stopped leaking water from flush tank. For adjustments I'll recommned to see the video at Sloan website.
