This is one polarizing horn.
The reviews of this clarinet have a bimodal distribution: mostly 5-stars and 1-stars. I think it’s somewhere in between. TL;DR: Don’t buy for a beginner, buy for an experienced player who wants cheap flashy horn for busking.First, we’ve gotta get one thing out of the way: the asking price is no money at all for a new clarinet. The cheapest plastic clarinet made by Buffet, the most famous clarinet manufacturer, is the model B10, which new costs about seven times as much as old Glory here. But the price isn’t the interesting thing about the Glory. For a hundred bucks, you can find a used Bundy that will be perfectly serviceable, and for two or three hundred, you can find a used wooden Noblet which is liable to actually be a mighty fine horn. Check the famous auction site! If you are just looking for a cheap clarinet that plays, that’s what I reckon you ought to do.So what is the interesting thing about the Glory? Well, it’s the color options. Non-clarinetists sometimes labor under the misconception that the clarinet is nerdy or uncool. Now, you and I know that the clarinet is slickest thing going, next to the BP oil spill, but tragically not everyone is so hip. Sometimes, though, Jeff just needs to see a purple clarinet with gold keys to wake up to the fact that clarinets are straight up pimpin’. Now, if Buffet made a purple clarinet with gold keys, I would buy that. But they don’t, so I bought this one.How is it? Well, from the perspective of craftsmanship, it’s hilariously bad. The color is uneven, and the “gold” color of the keys is dull in spots. The plastic edges are rough and poorly finished, heck, the bore is rough and poorly finished. The toneholes look really sharp, like they’ll cut the pads. The tonehole chimneys are glued in, and you can see the dried glue seeping out. But from another perspective, well, the thing plays. Even with stock (matching color!) mouthpiece and the supplied reeds (yep, I put one of those in my mouth for the sake of knowledge, and you’re welcome) it plays. With my own mouthpiece, reed, and ligature, it even plays nice. Some of the other reviews complain of bad intonation on the horn. That’s weak, man, play in tune! Some of the one star reviews talk about this horn like it's the fifth horseman of the Apocalypse. Come on, it's not that bad. Way back in high school, I picked up a FirstAct clarinet from Wal Mart to play outside for circa two bills and everyone acted all horrified, but it was fine. This horn is fine, too. At least the one I got is.So should you buy this clarinet? If you’re an adult beginner, or a parent buying for a young kid, for the love of Louie NO! If you don’t know what the bore and the tonehole chimneys are, no. These horns are too imprecisely made and if you get one with a problem, you won’t know or be able to fix it. No repair shop will fix it either. Buy a used horn from a reputable brand if you’re down to fews and two. Hopefully you have a teacher or knowledgeable band director to help. Remember, violinists don’t turn their noses up at Strads because they’re “used.” A good horn is as a good horn does.If you’re a good clarinetist who wants a cheap flashy horn for busking or whatever, sure, just expect to have to toss it when it breaks down.Oh yeah, it also comes with white gloves. I don't know why, because you can't play clarinet with gloves on: the pads of your fingers need to seal the holes.

Buy a new head with purchase.
I am happy with the instrument. The only down fall the clarinet has was the head that came with the clarinet was not formed correctly. This makes it very hard to play the notes properly. To fix this I use a different head and it plays perfectly. The instrument is easy to play and the case is a bit cheap but I bought cheap.Over all I am satisfied.
