The mower would run fine while cutting, but would alternately race then almost stall out when the engine was at idle. While the mower was sold to me with a six-year warranty, reading the fine print I discovered that the carburetor was specifically excluded from warranty coverage.Rather than bringing the mower to a Honda dealer, I decided to replace the carburetor myself. Fortunately, Amazon offered a carburetor replacement kit that included not just the carburetor, but the required gaskets as well. After viewing a couple of U-tube tutorials on how-to replace a carburetor on a Honda HRX217HZA mower, I successfully replaced the carburetor on my mower. The mower has performed perfectly since I replaced the carburetor.If you are comfortable working on small engines and have isolated the problem to the carburetor, then I recommend purchasing this carburetor replacement kit. The kit contains in a single box all of the parts needed for the carburetor replacement. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy fix *by W***L on May 27, 2017* After several years, my HRX2173VKA mower ran erratically for RPM and was sometimes difficult to start. Then it failed to gain RPM and stalled easily/quickly. I bought a new carburetor instead of rebuilding the old one. It was easy to install - everything stacks on the two bolts. There were three gaskets (you reuse the one that faces the air cleaner). I did manipulate the auto-choke(??) between the carburetor and intake to get it working more freely - it is not included. Just take photos to get the sequence right if you need to. It cranked on the first pull and has for probably 20 more starts on two tanks of gas. Remember to buy a new sparkplug, since yours is toast if you have had these sorts of problems. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A genuine oem part *by T***M on December 27, 2017* As shown in the picture. Individually wrapped in Honda packaging. Carb in one package and caskets in their own individual bags.There are cheaper alternatives but this is the real deal. Worked out of the box. No instructions so make sure you take pictures when you disassembled the old one if this is your first time doing this.
