Let It Rain!
I love this book! I'm a lover of cats and dogs (and quilting!) The whimsical projects Ms. Anderson presents in this book are perfect for my sense of fun. I purchased this book for the charming 64x84-inch dog quilt "Best Friend." When the book arrived I was happy to see other projects that caught my interest. Bonus! Also what attracted me to this book is Anderson's use of simple embroidery to embellish her designs. I love to embroider and it adds such charm and depth to my projects. I think that even someone who has never embroidered before could follow Lynette's instructions. All of the projects include the use of embroidery. The title says there are 17 total projects but for the life of me, I count only 15: 12x9.5-inch sewing bag (shown on cover), 7x5.25-inch needle case, 4x2.5-inch scissor keeper, 55x55-inch kitty bed quilt, 8.25x6.25-inch journal cover, 64x84-inch doggy quilt, 18.5x18.5-inch doggy cushion (pillow, to Americans), 29x38-inch kitty wall hanging, 4-inch kitty pincushion, 9.5x9.5-inch cat/dog/bird handbag, 5x5-inch coin purse, 35x35-inch lap quilt, 9.5x9.5-inch photo album cover, and finally two punch needle projects, a 6.25x4.25-inch wall hanging and 6-inch diameter box cover. All projects include individual instructions for all techniques and materials required to make them. In addition, at the back of the book are comprehensive lists of materials and tools: fabrics and wadding (batting), threads, fusible web and interfacing, buttons, craft glue, paint, basic tool kit list, rotary cutter, ruler, mat, pins, needles, marking pens, template plastic, light box, punch needle tool. A section titled Basic Techniques covers: sewing seams, pressing work, using templates, reversing templates, transferring designs, tea dying, fusible web & needle-turn applique, crazy flip & stitch (Lynette's technique for a crazy patchwork look), English paper piecing, punch needle work, making yo-yos, adding borders, quilting, binding, and eleven embroidery stitches. Whew! I think that just about covers everything I need to know to create any of these designs! All templates require enlarging.

Shame about the patterns having to be re-sized,
I like the ideas and concepts of this book but please, please designers give us correct sized patterns. I really do not expect to have to find a photocopier and resize patterns. I want to get started as soon as I get the book. Sorry, this one is going on the shelf until I find time to photocopy the patterns I need.

Great book
This has to be one of the nicest books I have purchased, cannot wait to get on with some of the projects. It is well laid out and the colourings displaying the projects are great. It will always be on my tabletop.

It's Quilting Cats & Dogs
The book was everything I thought it would be. It was in new condition, but was a used book. It came in a timely manner. There were several different kinds of crafts, which is unusal in a book.

Best quilting book I have
I have had this book for about 2 years now and can honestly say it's my favourite quilting book of all time. I have used it loads and find the projects in it very inspirational. It is very typical of Lynette Anderson, but I find the ideas in this book even more appealing than her other books. I never stick rigidly to her patterns, but they are a great starting point and are easily adapted to other things. For example I used one of the blocks from a quilt to make a covered photo album, which worked really well. Instructions are clear, although a little sewing experience might be needed for some of the more complicated projects. A lot of the templates in the back are actual size, although several do need enlarging on a photocopier, which is always a bit of a bug bear for me. My advice would be to use this book to inspire your own creations. Don't be afraid to stray from the exact instructions. See what fabrics you can get hold of and adapt the patterns/colour schemes accordingly.

just buy this book
this is an ideal companion to my previously bought country cottage quilts. Projects are both delightful & inspirational. Instructions and patterns are clear & easy to follow,( I found they were simple to reproduce by both tracing & enlarging by percent using local library photocopier, with minimal effort). My barely basic embroidery skills were more than adequate to follow her designs- easy peasy!! I particularly wanted some "doggie" characters to go with the previous bird & cat. In my opinion, Lynnette came up trumps with this book, she even designed the Lecien fabric to go with it- I'm so pleased to have found some spare "summertime friends fabric" under the bed!!! More of the same please, Lynnette

It's Quilting Cats and Dogs
Some wonderful designs and at first I thought well written. However now that I've started to gather all the fabric to make the "best friend quilt" I have realised that there is a whole section missing on how to cut the squares for the outer border. There is also no mention of which fabrics are used for appliqué, small details I know, but never the less annoying. I would have also preferred to have the templates printed at the correct size, would make life so much easier and would have only added a few more pages to the book.

Disappointing
Had I been able to view this book I would not have purchased it and cannot see myself making any of the items in it. I have made quilts with cats and dogs appliqued onto them and they look far more attractive than these. I shall probably give the book to a charity shop.

A Joy to browse and a Joy to Make
This is a beautiful book to just look through but it has lots of lovely projects to make and to inspire. It is a good book for people new to applique and embroidery, as well as the more experienced, as the instructions are easy to read and the tecniques and stitches are all simple yet the end product is of a high standard and beautiful too. I definately recommend it.
