carefully consider orientation
Determine what you want to carry and how you want it oriented. As said by others, it only mounts one way. Also, the shock cord used is VERY rigid and won't stretch very far.

It only orients natively horizontally.
If you want to store something like a pole vertically, you need to run a vertical strap through the molle and attach the clip to that. That is certainly a solution, but for the price, this thing ought to orient in both directions. Or it should be designed so it clips on horizontally but stores items vertically.

Won't fit all backpacks
Fits on to a certain thickness of webbing. If you don't have this 1" webbing on your backpack, it won't be stable and hold tightly.
