To Boldly Go: Rare Photos from the TOS Soundstage - Season Two

Having been a diehard fan of the original Star Trek (TOS) I believe this is a book every fan like me should have. I also collected the film clips from Lincoln Enterprises so was ecstatic about finding a book filled with the bloopers, outtakes and clack boards from those film clips. Time has not been kind to my collection so I was thrilled to find that these pieces of Star Trek history are being preserved in Gerald Gurian's books. It sure brings back a lot of fond memories.

3 stars for quality, minus 2 stars for price.As I stated in the review of season 1 of this book series, this is a really $19.95 softcover and not worth the ~$40 being charged.Many photos are colorized or perhaps poorly restored and a number of them are low resolution showing scanning artifacts. There are a number of unique photos in this book, but also many publicity shots and slates where the slate is blocking the center of interest.A good book for any TOS fan to have, but definitely NOT at the asking price of ~$40. 'Amazon points' from credit card purchases made this book purchase 'free' for me. Would not have bought otherwise. I'm sure to get season 3 to finish this collection, but will not be paying anywhere near full price when I do.

As was the case with season one, Gerald Gurian's collection of photos from Star Trek's next season give a unique look at the production. There are a wealth of superbly presented photos from the sound stages and effects houses that give a visual context that perfectly compliments Marc Cushman's TOS season 2 tome. Fascinating and an essential buy for any Trek fan - Highly Recommended !

This is a really excellent collection of photos, clips, and information. This is the first time I have seen some of the faces behind the making of the series. Such a great book. Season One is also available and it is equally as good. I can't wait for season 3!

Seeing all the behind the scenes photos and stories is great. I never believed in Gene's so called vision. He was telling stories and giving a hope to be better people. It is flawed and that makes it so memorable, from Stars to Production to Creator.

Awesome pictures, some rare, photos depicting behind the scenes of the Second season of Trek. Good quality black and white, and colour photos with Minimal text. This served as a great companion piece to The To Bodly goes series of books.

Good pics, some seen before, many not.

Excellent book and a good read

Para todo amante de la serie original de Star Trek, estos libros que cuentan (ya sea en texto o con fotos) los entresijos del rodaje de la serie es toda una joya. Cientos de fotografías inéditas de la segunda temporada de Star Trek, tomadas en pleno rodaje.Nota para Amazon: entiendo que la compañía no puede crear una caja de envío personalizada para cada uno de sus productos, pero en este caso el libro era algo más pequeño que el embajaje y el libro "bailaba" dentro de ella. No estaría de más que, en estos casos, se aplicara una protección extra como rellenar el hueco sobrante con papel como suelen hacer con las cajas grandes.El primer pedido lo tuve que devolver y solicitar un reemplazo porque llegó con gran parte de los bordes dañados (ver foto). Desconozco si el ejemplar estaba mal de origen, lo trataron mal en el transporte o dichos defectos fueron consecuencia de ese "movimiento libre" del libro dentro del embajaje. Este segundo ejemplar ha llegado perfecto. Un 10 para el servicio de atención al cliente/devoluciones de Amazon.

A good series of BTS pictures from Season 2. Many of the images are off colour a bit but I think that's inevitable. Many of the images are snap-board shots - pics where someone is snapping the black and white board before the scene begins ("Action!"). A little pricey for what it is, but a true fan will appreciate it.
