It works where other things did not
I really just want to thank the makers of this tool. Finally I can make my western shirts without worrying about the snaps coming off! So great.

Works with Upholstery Leather!
I bought this to put some metal snaps on faux leather for a cosplay I'd been working on. Everyone fawns over this brand, so I had high hopes for this product. It was a bit odd to figure out (But that might have just been the fact that I was in a rush to finish). I got the tool set up how the instructions showed and prayed, not certain it would poke through such a thick fabric as upholstery leather, but it did, much to my surprise! I had to use quite the grip on it to make sure it poked all the way through, but for the most part, it worked rather well. Poked through the leather and the snaps stayed in all day (Needed them to stay closed for a decent 10 hours). I had no problems with the snaps not staying in the whole day (Even with taking the cuffs I had made on and off a few times). I did, however, have some issues getting the snaps to stay in the tool to line them up to the fabric, as they would slip out of the tool on occasion. That was frustrating, and could have simply been human error. Overall, though, I would recommend this product to anyone looking to put snaps in thin or even thicker fabrics. It did seem to strain a little with the leather, but with enough pressure, you can get it to stay!

Broke after second use.
Only had for two weeks. When this worked, it was great. But after my second attempt of adding snaps to sewing project, a piece of the red attachment broke off, and now it won’t work at all.Just phoned Customer Service and they are replacing the broken part.

Adapters limitedin size of snp it can be used with
I wished to replace missing/broken pearl snaps on western style shirts. These are generally 10 - 10.5 mm size. The tool has adapters for 12 mm size but not 10 mm. This is an unfortunate - and easily corrected - limitation. I have contacted the manufacturer (DRITZ) and received only a response that the 10 - 10.5 mm adapter was not available. Why? It would make the tool FAR more applicable at little additional development or manufacturing costs.

Kinda worked.
Pros:CheapComes with four size 16 snapsWorked, more or less.Cons:Obnoxious to use - There are two indentations for placing the toothed part of each half of the snap, one for size 15 and one for size 16 snaps. If you are using the size 16 indentation, which you may well do, as this comes with size 16 snaps, you will only have about one inch of room past the snap. So, if, as in my case, you need to install the snap 3" into the fabric, you have to fold the fabric over on itself twice, which will prevent the device from closing all the way, even when you hammer it, and the snaps will not appear as snug against the fabric as you might prefer. Further, it is really difficult to prevent the toothed ring from coming out of the indentation as you bring the middle layer of the device down.Durability? - Just from installing the four snaps that came with the fastener, it is pretty well banged up looking. I don't know how many hammer blows moderately hard plastic is meant to endure, but probably not too many more than it will receive in another four snaps.Time - It took me over an hour to install for snaps onto a piece of tarp because of the above difficulties. Results - Because of the difficulty in setting up the lower, toothed, part of the snap in the fastener, I wound up with one of the four snaps not being set right. One of the teeth is jutting outside of the snap ring (luckily this wasn't for clothing) and one is jutting into the center of the ring.I guess if I had ever seen or used one of these before, I would have known and expected these short comings, but this was my experience. If you are going to be installing numerous snaps (besides the fact that I am sure you would then be some one who would know this already), then you should probably spring for one of the real snap fastening things. If, on the other hand, you, like me, only need to install four snaps, and don't care what size snaps you're installing, figure this saves you $15-$20. If that's worth the hassle and time, I'd go for it.

There's a bit of a learning curve, but I wish I'd bought one sooner.
This isn't the most intuitive point-and-shoot mechanism imaginable. However, the instructions are detailed and good, and if you follow them methodically, you will get good results every time, and it's amazingly convenient and satisfying. Go slowly the first few times you use it; you'll start getting faster at it very quickly.I *can* sew, but I rarely get around to it, so things that need mending or adjusting sit around forever, looking at me sadly from whatever corner I have stuck them in. That included anything that needed some kind of fastening. I received this item, and the next day completed a project I'd been wanting to do in about 20 minutes. The next time, I did more in less time. What took me the most time was figuring out and correcting mistakes I made in setting it up, due to rushing. Fortunately, I did take the time to be sure I was attaching the right piece in the right place. If you get the snap pointing in the wrong direction, or attached in the wrong spot, that's going to be difficult or impossible to correct.I actually held off on buying this because - being an impatient US consumer - I wanted something quicker and easier. Now that I've got one, I know that while attaching a snap may never be a task that takes less than 5 minutes, I get really solid, reliable results every time. I don't know of any quicker and easier solutions, but I'm not sure I'd trust them even if I did. This thing is really worth getting, and it's worth the relatively small investment of time to get comfortable with the process.

Facile d'utilisation
Pince parfaite !
