Sturdy and useable.

Although the slider isn't infinitely adjustable, the graduations that the slider can be set at are very close together and they stay set while making arcs. One small, lightweight tool which is great for most simple constructions, circle drawing, measuring and measuring basic angles. Just be prepared for the students who like the noise they make if you force the slider along without pressing the centre of the slider.

I use them for earth science in NYS. The slider part has ridges along it, so the slide doesn’t slide easily, which is great for drawing circles. My students had zero issues with the slider moving when drawing circles. The rest of the compass is well made and just a good buy. Hope this helps.
