I didn't want the book to come to an end
What a delightful book! Sunitha writes beautifully, painting vivid pictures with consummate skill, of a time long past. She brings to life the people and locales of the tea estates, with stories from an age that has passed into history. The stories are heartwarming and will stay with you long after you have put the book down. This is not a book for speed reading. It is not the kind of book you will want to read in a hurry, even though it can be finished quite fast. I savoured the book, reading it slowly, taking my time and found myself enjoying the exploration of a place that I have never visited but now want to. I didn't want the book to end and I put it down wistfully when I came to the end of the book. Looking forward to more such books and endearing stories from Sunitha!

Fascinating and enjoyable reading
Sunitha Srinivasan's brilliant book "Trail Blazers of the Travancore Plantations" has captured the path breaking work done by the pioneering planters in the beautiful hills of Central Travancore, where I had the privilege of working.Combining hard work with the bounties of nature, these stalwarts left Peermade and Vandiperiyar with rich and unique heritage in the areasof education, health care, and religious harmony.Weaving humour and fun skillfully ino the numerous anecdotes and episodes, that dot the book, Sunitha has made it an easy and enjoyable read as she takes the reader on a verdant tour through the green and cool western ghats.Reviewed in India by M. Ravindran.

A well crafted narrative that mixes history with real life experiences and nostalgia.
A must read book for people with interests in the plantations of India and of the Travancore region. Sunitha deftly moves from the near present to the distant past effortlessly and holds you to each delightful story. What makes it more interesting is that each story is rooted in actual fact.

Thoroughly good reading...
Beautifully written and well researched facts woven into very interesting anecdotes. Reading the vivid description with glints of humor on the lives and times of early planters and the folks revolving around the tea plantations of Kerala and Tamil Nadu border is both delightful and informative. Addition of the black and white photographs brings life to some of the characters in the book. As the author says " pour yourself a cup of tea, curl up on your favorite spot....." and savour slowly is my suggestion too, as this is not a book to finish in one go. Kudos to Sunitha and may I say expecting more.
