Best Brujeria Book!
I love this book - it is accessible to anyone who is just learning about Brujeria but it has dozens of hidden gems for experienced practitioners. I appreciate the exercises in chapter one and the reminders of the importance of intention and presence throughout the book. The book is a great read straight through but more importantly, each time you return to it you discover something you missed the first time. It's a reference book you will return to again and again. Already my copy is looking well loved with highlighted passages and dog-eared pages so I can find my go-to bath recipes, cleanses, and breathing exercises. Definitely exceeded my expectations!

Great Resource and Fresh Perspectives
The voice of Lou Florez is engaging and causes you to feel like you are part of his life. He brings a new perspective of the Arts that the mainstream "metaphysical" community hasn't seen yet. Walking the reader through the steps of invoking the Plant Spirits and creating strong medicines for the soul. He speaks of aspects of candle magic that have never been seen in other books on the topic. Great read, super informative and easy to identify with. I loved it!!!!

baths, candles, cleansings, and agua floridas
This was a really interesting book that glimpses into Mexican cultural lore and traditional folk magic. Packed full of recipes and prayers, this book is essential for witches of all paths.Meaning “witchcraft” in Spanish, brujería describes or disparages occult religious practices in some Latin American and Afro-Caribbean cultures with indigenous roots.I chose this book to learn more about Brujeria magic because it is informed by Catholic beliefs, Aztec traditions, and Mexican healing arts. The main focus of the spellwork in this book are baths, candles, cleansings, and agua floridas. It offers a cultural understanding of spellcraft and other traditions of the Global South. And while it does teach readers about spiritual cleansing through cleaning, candle casting and honoring the saints, it is more than just a reference or lesson book. Dedicated to Mexican-Americans, this book is for those who feel they are both and neither, who are caught in-between. It explores ancestors and descendants, and seeks to reclaim the magical and religious traditions of Mexico. Filled with cultural advice, this book hopes to bring confidence back to the generation of Mexican-Americans who have been assimilated and colonized, and lets readers know that they are not alone. If you feel a pull back to the magic of your ancestors, this book is written for you.Thank you so much to Ulysses Press for reaching out to send me an Advance Reading Copy of this title. All opinions are my own.

Super accessible for beginners and gives great cultural information
I just started the book today and have been devouring it! Lou's writing is so accessible to all levels of skill from a new practitioner to an experienced practitioner looking to expand their recipe book. I'm excited to try things out and learn the sociocultural background of Brujeria and the context for use of different ingredients for appropriate situations.

For the aspiring bruja/o!! Must buy.
Lou has truly brought to the community works that I wish I had when I was younger. Touching on the main subjects that are important and must not be overlooked, my favourite topics all explored from working with the ancestors (making the boveda) important altar. Then to limpias (cleansing) to spiritual baths.A must have, also its hardback, compact and cute lil companion. I hope Lou writes more!!
