The mushroom heads easily slide over each other allowing positioning of parts before they are snapped together to create a firm fastening attachment. When mated, the fasteners are hidden from view and leave you with an unbroken surface for a smooth, clean appearance. From the Manufacturer Strength in NumbersOne little mushroom won't accomplish much in this world, but pair him up with a few hundred of his friends and he becomes nearly unstoppable. Teamwork, that's the idea behind the design on the 3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener TB3550. When joined together, these unique, mushroom-shaped stems combine to interlock with one another, generating five times the closure strength of typical hook and loop fasteners while maintaining the ability to easily peel-apart for quick access.3M Dual Lock TB3550 Reclosable Fastener contains approximately 250 mushroom-shaped head stems per square inch. When two pieces of Dual Lock are pressed together the stems flex and the mushroom heads slide past each other. Review: Forget Velcro! I'm totally hooked on this stuff! - My first experience with this product was with my guitar pedal board. My Gator board shipped with a small roll of it. I'd never used it before but I was incredibly impressed by the strength of the lock. Seriously, this is impressive stuff. It makes Velcro industrial strength look like total garbage. Yes, this stuff is very expensive but it works and is absolutely worth the premium. No more hooks and loops anymore, this product mates with itself and doesn't have the destructive "tear" when separating. The pieces interlock and grip like nobody's business. Package says good for 1000 separations (that's a lot) and I believe it. A couple of tips: 1. Although the backing adhesive is excellent, make sure you clean the mounting surfaces well with alcohol to remove any trace of grease. Remember this stuff is strong, so you need a good adhesive bond that will withstand the force of separation. 2. Try not to upset the roll when it arrives. Don't unravel it. I pull it out from the center. The reason is if the film that protects the mounting adhesive gets separated you may be compromising the sticking properties. That would make it wear out faster. 3. Plan carefully exactly how much you need. This stuff is expensive but works so well you may need less than you think! You can also cut it lengthwise for thinner strips. This has worked well for me. 4. Note: the adhesive is white which will stand out if placing on glass like a windshield. 5 stars. Another fabulous 3M invention!

**Q: What 3M Dual-Lock product and part # has the best adhesive for outdoor auto/motorcycle use**
A: I use this product (TB3550) to mount cameras to my motorcycle. I've not had any issues yet with the adhesive even at speeds of 170mph + (track). I'm not sure you'll find a better product from 3M for these types of applications.

**Q: Would anyone recommend 3M Dual Lock for pedalboards?**
A: Yes, it works great. Be advised, do not use much because it stays together amazingly. It’s a little hard to adhere to the bottom of Boss pedals. I sometimes have to use a little epoxy on the back of the dual lock to help it adhere to the pedal itself. Just a thin strip at the top and bottom is all you’ll need. I recommend getting an automotive trim removal tool from Harbor freight (the yellow ones) to help pry them off when reshuffling pedals. (Yes, even with just a little bit. Then apply some dual lock to the tool and stick it to the bottom of the board. Added bonus: it does not absorb liquids. So spills won’t smell down the road.

**Q: Is this the same as 3M -VHB tape? Dual sided of course but with less adhesive properties?**
A: Not sure of your question but after a year of using this product i have one more comment. It does not work well at all on anything but flat or mating surfaces.

**Q: Just to be clear, it does come with the "fuzz" side as well as the hook side correct? I am only in need of the "fuzz".**
A: No, there is no "fuzz" side on this type. Bothe sides are the same, made out of plastic. When locked, they snap, and it will not let go after that. Prying them apart, they release, but it takes some force. I have used this type on small RC airplanes to full scale flight simulators. This is the top of the line commercial "Velcro".

I once bought a dashcam that came with a small piece of this and I liked it so much that I bought some to have. If you're willing to spend the money, 3M has some fantastic fasteners and adhesives, and this one is no exception. I've also used it in my amateur radio "go box" to mount the antenna tuner to the rack shelf and I don't have to worry about it coming undone. The roll comes with both sides of the fastener, and both have double stick tape. Simply cut it to length, pull off the tape backing, and put it where you need it. The tape will take care of the rest.
