## Description

Telemecanique Sensors FSG2J21CP 30-50 PSI Pumptrol Water Pressure Switch, Grey Cover

Review: Switch perfect - Wonderful product. I put off many months fixing problem. Reviewed what could be problem with intermittent water pressure. Constantly bled line. Illuminated several reasons for problem. Didn't want to call plumber for a minor fix. Followed thru with many reasons for no water pressure. Finally trusted myself that I could replace water pump pressure switch. Got info for older switch. Watched how to install. Easy to install. Product for perfect. Had older switch seventeen and a half years. Ordered and received in seem like two days. Working great. Have water pressure. It could have cost me lots of money for a plumber. Sorry plumbers but those that can take the time to fix it yourself should try. Will order again along with other products they have. Directions are small and need to be clearer but you can pay attention how you remove old one. Make sure all.electric sit off and we'll pump. Could have purchased in store but cheaper from desertcart because had to be shipped to store from somewhere else. This was easier faster cheaper.
Review: Needed adjustment, but works just fine. - This is the second one I've purchased. The original one on the system came with the well and had rusted out. When I installed the new one the calibration was perfect but unfortunately was physically damaged due to no fault of the device shortly after. When I finally got around to installing this second replacement it worked perfectly out of the box but unlike the first one needed to be adjusted to reach the 30-50 specification (all other pump and tank hardware was tested to make sure that this was the cause and not a false reading.) Even so, I find these trustworthy and would buy again.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: install instructions for pump water pressure switch**
A: Asuming you are replacing an existing pressure switch, it's a piece of cake. But first I must ask it you are sure the problem is with the switch. I would suggest yo spend a little time doing a few checks. Turn off the power to the switch/pump at the breaker. Remove the plastic cover and look for the contacts. Check the contacts for marks of arcing and carbon build up. Push the overcenter arm to open the contacts and clean the contacts with an emory board/nail file type. When you see clean metal on the contact mating surfaces trip the OC bar back to close the contacts. Energize the circuit and see if the pump runs. If it does not find a volt meter somewhere and measure the voltage across L1 and L2 contacts (from the service panel) then repeat on Load1 and Load 2 (the wires going to the pump). Basicly you are checking the voltage from the service panel and then to the pump. If there is no power on the line side of the switch, there is a problem between the panel and the switch. If there is voltage on the wires heading to the pump the pressure switch is doing its job and the pump wiring or pump are at fault.. If theres voltage in but not out of the switch then replace the switch. Again shut off the power at the service panel. Drain the water system to releive any pressure in the system. Take a picture of the wiring to be sure the new unit is installed identically. Label and remove the wires from their respective terminals. Remove the the cable connector from the sides of the unit to be reused in the new unit. Unscrew the unit from the water system being sure not to stress the connection point on the system. Use a back-up wrench. Pipe dope the new unit's threads an screw it in. Do not over tighten it. Install the cable connects, connect the wires and install the cover. Restore power to the system and see if it works.

**Q: Wire connections -- Line Vs. Load. Working with 240v. My unit does not cut off at all and builds excessive pressure causing leeks. Wires are black & w**
A: Turn the circuit breaker off then double check your wiring. You should have 4 wires, a white & a black which is line in, and another set of white and black wires which is line out or load. If it looks okay check your settings., the cut-in should be set at about 30 lbs and the cut out should be about 60 lbs. If all that is okay you may have a defective control. Make sure you turn the circuit breaker on after you finish checking the above. If you can't tell which is line-in you may need a voltage meter to check it. Good luck.

**Q: Does this switch has a low pressure cutoff?**
A: I'm not sure what you mean by "low pressure cutoff". However this switch is designed to maintain pressure from your well pump between 30 and 50 psi. If the pressure in the system drops below 30 psi, it kicks the pump on, once it hits 50 psi it kicks the pump off.

**Q: my pumptrol square D model number is 9013fsg 2 30/50 psi is it the same as a fsg2j221cp 30/50 can i use it?**
A: Honest answer: I don't know. Having admitted that, I will add for your own decision making: (1) Did Square D just change their model number as a product update? i.e., (2) Are the liquid plumbing fittings the same? (3) Do both models have the same number of hot, neutral, and ground electrical connections? (4) Are the electrical breaker/contact points the same size? (5) Do you have an on/off switch upstream of the Square D to control your system? (6) Is the system fuse-protected upstream from your switch? If the answers to #2-6 are all "yes", it may be worth a try. But if in doubt, do not endanger yourself or anyone else! And feel free to get a second opinion.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Needed adjustment, but works just fine.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Square D quality
*by H***D on May 9, 2026*

I replaced the 50 year old Square D equivalent with the blue cover. The old switch worked, but after 50 years, figured it was time to do preventive maintenance instead of being in a pickle when it eventually fails. This was a drop-in replacement, internals were identical, and the wiring was identical. Since I was replacing this just for preventive maintenance, I took the opportunity to also replace the nipple/riser as well as the pressure gauge. Considering the price is very reasonable, I came back and purchased a spare, just to keep on the shelf.
