Love the quality and precision
At first I was reluctant to pay that much for a caliper. Now I am glad I got a real Mitutoyo caliper in my tool shop. It is smooth and feels great in your hands. Very precise and easy to read dial. Batteries last a long time. However I wish it will have and off button. But it goes off by itself when not being move.

Excellent quality.
Don’t need to take fast repeated measurements, so I liked the slow turn speed ratio compared to the Mitituyo Quantum models with fast turn ratio. Like the ratchet style for repeatability. Very smooth.

Serious Tool
This was purchased for general household use. It's probably more micrometer than we really need, but we wanted to purchase a great quality tool that will last and this Mitutoyo micromoeter is exactly what we were looking for. It is very easy to use, and easy to take the battery out to extend its life when not using the tool. The ratchet mechanism is great, readings are very accurate and consistent when the ratchet is used to zero the tool and to take measurements. It is handy to be able to flip the digital readout between inches and millimeters, and it's nice to also be able to use it as a purely analog (mechanical) device. The battery is one small negative, it appears to be important to purchase a genuine 938882 replacement battery when the time comes. The genuine tool battery has a flat discharge characteristic, the voltage sag is insignificant and the tool behaves reliably until the battery is nearly dead. The inexpensive SR44 replacements that run for $1.50 to $1.75 each will work when new, but the voltage sags gradually as the battery is used which can result in erratic behavior when the battery is partially discharged.

Product is dependable, accurate and simple to use
I used to use a fully mechanical micrometer, the digital is just as accurate (also can be read mechanically)Just much quicker to read and on the eyes.I have used Mitutoyo products for many years. They are very reliable. If these are stored in the cold, the display function is an issue, you have to get the device to warm before the display will become accurate. This is my only issue with the digital display. When I am going to use it in the cold, I make sure to keep it in the heated truck prior to use.

It is a very nice kit with both a caliper and a micrometer.
I have been fortunate with Mitutoyo tools. This is a brand I trust.Even the plastic boxes they came in were nice

Amazon letdown on shipping, case is useless
Micrometer and caliper both seem very well made.Wooden case is also well made, but useless as the micrometer doesn't fit.Amazon delivery was terrible. Changed delivery date to a day I wouldn't be home, left no option to change delivery date to a later one or have it put in an Amazon locker. Expensive package left out for any package thieves to find.

Wonderful Tools!
I'm sure it's not a surprise that I gave this 5 stars. I've used Mitutoyo products in my career now for nearly 30 years and some of the tools I use today are nearly that old. I bought these next to a set of Mitutoyo calipers and a no-name brand set of barrel mics, and they sure don't disappoint. Absolutely wonderful quality tools you can't go wrong with and the price is also perfect. I really enjoy quality Japanese made products.

Accurate and easy to use
As a millwright I have used micrometers several times and without a doubt that one has been the best so far. Yes it's not cheap but it have several key advantages- the digital indicator leaves no room for measurement errors- it has both SAE and METRIC readings so you only need one tool instead of 2Only complaint is lack of an OFF but Mitutoyo tools tend to be easy on the batteries so its no big deal for me and you still can use the classic scale should the battery fail although it only a 0.001" which is a shame, a full vernier scale is a must on a micrometer in my opinion 😗

Highly recommended for anyone a bit more "old school" who wants the best of current tech. ;)
In my 25 years of machining I have used lots of mics and own several older mitutoyos. Digitals I always borrowed from QA when I wanted one. This is my first personal digital mic and I am extremely happy with the purchase. The "QuantuMike" was the best for a while with its superior accuracy - but I just did not like them. I know they are great, but something about the 2mm per turn and the all in one plastic ratchet thimble bothered me. I have never liked "slip thimbles". I am glad I waited. This 293-340-30 model now has the same incredible incredible +/- .00005 inches accuracy as the QuantuMike but has the traditional style all metal thimble with a separate (albeit plastic) ratchet. With a few ratchet clicks it will repeat to the half tenth mark every time and I can quickly get it to within a half tenth mark of that with just my own one-handed no-ratchet tension for fast non critical checking. This mic also has some heft to it, which I see as a plus. Everything on it is finished beautifully - all you would expect with the best. Highly recommended for anyone a bit more "old school" who wants the best of current tech. ;)

Great quality tool
Superb Mitutoyo quality. I got these at a great price for my home workshop. Accuracy is spot on when tested on my gauge blocks, all I need to do is get that accurate in my own work! Only slight downside is the box could be a bit better quality.
