Question 1

stupid question... what happens to the mosquito? Is it a trap? does a laser obliterate them? I only see it attracts them, then what?

I had a mosquito magnet in Florida with wetlands not more than 50 feet from the house. It worked like a charm…noticeable results after about 2 weeks. The mosquitos get sucked into the net…burning propane gets exhausted through a catalytic converter which omits Co2…lures mosquitos in and then the bait lures to the vacuum..where they get sucked into the net that’s close to the catalytic converter (heat) where they rapidly dry-out and die. Personally, I never emptied a bag with live mosquitos in the bag…huge ball of dead-dried mosquitos. I’m a believer, but then that was my experience, following the setup instructions to the letter.

Question 2

The 50' cord is low voltage, 12v, can it simply be connected to a 12v deep cycle battery?

I do not own this product, so I cannot confirm for sure, but the person who said this uses 12 volt AC is correct. The power brick does not convert the voltage to DC like many power bricks do. You would be better off buying the model of mosquito magnet that uses batteries. Or, you could get a custom inverter that takes your deep cycle 12v DC and generates 12v AC. You can probably find something like that for $20 on eBay. Then you could use your battery to power it. Or replace the fan with a 12v DC fan.

Question 3

This is a question for the manufacturer.  4 out of 4 current reviews for this product cite quality issues and lack of replacement parts. Any response?

The companies ISO dept is non-existent, that is true.  I bought my 1st MM in 2003, have our 5th & 6th in operation in north Florida today.  It is a love hate relationship for certain.  I love the way the attract and dispose of the bity bugs.  We have one here we call "no see'ums" that literally keep people indoors once the sun starts down, and the MM handles them fantastically.  
However,  if you get more than two (2) seasons out of a system you are doing very well, and sense you can't get the parts you really need to fix it, the 2 x 3 printed circuit board that runs it all, you have to pay to ship it in plus $110 for repairs to get it fixed.
That's not the world's best business model, but it is the one they work with.

how long does a propane tank last if we run it for 24 hours every day..??

Accepted Answer

A full 20-pound tank will last approximately 21 days. It is not recommended to let the propane completely run out. We recommend having a second full tank on-hand to swap to reduce downtime.
