Inaccurate
These stories become more and more fantastical. As usual, editing was poor, and sloppy. I was particularly amazed to read that Sarah May's mother was risen from the dead! In the Souljacker, Sarah lived with her father, following the death of her mother - he was there with the ready-cooked meals when she came home from work. So, you can imagine my surprise that mother was re-instated and now in charge of the cooking! Also, Brolly's fixation with pools of vomit is a bit tiresome. Not what you would call a very 'grown-up' book.

DCI Lambert is back, his determination for the truth as strong as ever!
I'm over the moon to see DCI Lambert back in action, he's been gone for far to long. This storyline and plot is full of blind alleys, twists and turns and shocks, you just do not see coming.Intriguing is putting it mildly, I kept trying to second guess where certain situations, were going. I was way off, it just hung on to my imagination, like a death grip.Murders are going unsolved as there's no clues to point the police in any direction, except with every body there's a card with Lambert's name stencilled on it, is the murderer setting him up as the main suspect? This is one seriously clever and consuming read, I really could not put it down, needless to say I read it far to quickly. Our DCI's personal life has improved, since his previous troubles, how long it stays that way remains to be seen!I love the characters Matt Brolly has created, Lambert and his colleagues are believable and likable, with a few odd worms thrown in, characterisation are brilliantly thought out and different, so there's no muddling up the cast.If you haven't read any of this series, and your into British crime you are seriously missing out on some excellent crime reading, I highly recommend you try them!

Brilliant Crime Thriller
I am biased as these series of books are written by my brilliant cousin Matt Brolly.I have thoroughly enjoyed the series of the DCI Lambert series.I love the fact the chapters are short and concise. The books are very well written and once you start reading personally I can't wait to turn the page to find out what will happen. The characters littered through the book are well thought out and a great representation of very like characters within the Police Force.I highly recommend this series of books, you won't regret buying them.

Dramatic at times ...
but verging on ludicrous at others. When I reviewed book 3 I said I hoped book 4 would be better ... it isn't. Again we have too many recalls on the death of his daughter Chloe, his inability to decide between his wife and DCI May, the mystery of the Manor which got very boring. As for the editing errors, well other reviewers have covered this. Matt Brolly isn't a bad writer, but he seems to be stuck in the writer's mire of filling pages with already known facts. Even if this was the first DCI Lambert book you'd read I'm sure the repeatedness would be annoying. Me and Michael Lambert are finished.

Dead time
A really good follow up to the previous three books, this story as usual is full of twists and turns, a dead body being found in the bath Lamberts name attached to the body, all the making if a copycat killer,Lambert shocked and pushed to his limits at what he had discovered,Recommend good read

Great read but a tad confusing
Really enjoyed this latest outing but only four stars as I am still confused. Lambert never eats or sleeps, does everything himself and there are so many suspects I get lost. Still, hopefully in the next it may become a tad clearer, if there is another.

Good story poorly written
I have read a lot of Matt Brolly' s books. Generally, the story is strong. But there are major inconsistencies about the characters and their relationships. They are well constructed stories but badly written. The editing of the books is appalling.

Great story and finale to conclude the series
It's good that there's a refresh of the back story in case you haven't read the others - if you have, it can be a tad annoying!! It's a fast paced read and well worth buying (and reading!). Good story line and not too many characters to be confusing. You won't be disappointed.
