Very long spins.
Will just go on and on for a while. Spin on glass for best results.

Top collectors and advanced spinners will love it. Consistent 8min+ spin times. This is a unique top, I haven’t seen many machined pieces like this. Bigger and heavier than it seems, but a real precision piece. The axle is removable so it packs down flat, that being said it tends to slide out while you wind it unless you hold it just so. I added a small o-ring to keep it in place which I would recommend as a feature, but ther than that top-knotch. Came with an extra axle and roll of string.

I love well made/conceived tops and simple physics toys. The separate axle of this top provides the capability to do a string-wound launch at impressive speeds; my calibrating strobe measured over 8500 rpms, and that was about 10 seconds after launch, The body of the top is incredibly well balanced, with no discernable wobble vibration. My first try spun for 17 minutes 15 seconds, and I broke 20 minutes by the second day. I find one of the most important factors for a long spin time is to be holding as perfectly upright as possible while pulling the string; any tilting of the axle before you put it down puts a lot of drag on the momentum/speed during that adjustment. Needless to say, I had to choose which of the 3 people I bought these for would have to get something else while I kept one!

[Edit, several days after leaving review below: I'm noticing that the spin times are going down and the sound of the bearings is increasing. Could be my being less skillful with the string-pulls, but I am wondering if the bearings inside the top's shaft are wearing a bit too quickly, thus reducing the spin times.] The top is heavier than I thought it would be. When I first noticed the weight, I thought: This thing's likely to spin a long time. I was right. First spin was 14-1/2 minutes. Best so far has been 17+ minutes, with an average spin time of about 15-1/2 minutes. *Caution* — the spindle's tip is very sharp. You would not want to spin the top on a wood surface—you'll mar the surface immediately. (I use either a convex shaving mirror or a convex glass lens.) It takes a bit of practice to wind up the string tightly and pull it in a way that doesn't yank the thin spindle right out of your hand. I think a very young child would find it difficult and frustrating to use the top. If you're thinking of giving it as a gift to a child, I'm guessing the kid should be at least 12. (The other reason is the super-sharp tip. Not something a really young kid should be playing with.) (Hey, DjuinoStar: Have you ever thought of finding a way to fit a small bearing ball to the spindle, rather than simply sharpening its tip?) Bonuses—I wasn't expecting these: The top comes with an extra spindle (with pointed tip) and a goodly amount of additional string. Those are thoughtful additions. Thumbs up, DjuiinoStar. Good product.

Terrific top! I was pleasantly surprised by the weight of the main wheel. Everything well made, plus an extra spindle and cord. Pretty easy after you do it a couple of times. I spin it on an upside down shot glass or a saucer, Goes a long time, though it takes practice to get s really good spin that doesn't oscillate that much. Very satisfied with the purchase, would recommend to others. Will probably get a Sterling Engine from DjuiinoStar for Christmas.
