Not really a rat trap
This review expresses two concerns: First, I think it is probably some copywriter's mistake -- not of the product itself -- that this was called a rat trap. I'm pretty sure it is just the mouse trap sold by the same company. It is too small to be a rat trap. So that's why I'm giving this a negative review, to alert potential buyers that it is not a rat trap. I don't think most rats could fit into the entry doors. As a mouse trap, it works well enough. I have caught two so far. But even then, there is a problem: there is no easy way to release them. If you open the top door, they are going to get out, and probably straight towards you. Other traps I have seen have smaller doors that would allow you release them into something else, or, at least, in a direction away from the trapper. If you want to just kill them, well, you could dunk it in water -- or let them starve. But if that is your plan, a regular snap trap is much more humane and much less messy. So I am giving this one star, mainly because of the mislabelling. If I were rating it as a mouth trap, I'd give it three -- since it does work, but is very problematic in other ways.

Bigger than a tin cat but not for large rats. Well constructed.
I bought this trap after confirming the dimensions were larger than a similar trap made by Victor. The doors on this one are large enough for ALL mice. Full grown rats aren't going to fit through them but I was having trouble with the Victor trap because it only caught very small mice. Nearby snap traps were catching much larger mice and I needed a trap that would perform continuously when I was away. This is it. I cut a glue trap to fit the interior base to make it lethal and for easy removal of the dead mice. These traps can get really nasty when not emptied regularly.

Works great for mice
Works great for mice, but openings are too small for rats. Sometimes I get 2 mice in the trap at once. I generally just use peanuts in the shell as bait. Sometimes the bait attracts raccoons, which are beating up the clear windows on top. Raccoons may also be able to open the lid. To take care of this, I've drilled a hole through the top and bottom and drive a spike through both holes and place the trap partially under a fence to somewhat protect it from the raccoons. The spike keeps the trap in place and the lid closed.

Works like a charm all the time, every time.
I bought this Multi-Catch clear top rat trap because I had bought the mouse version and that worked great at catching mice, 1-2 per night, but I wanted to catch some voles, which were too big for the mouse trap. I have to say that since I got it a little over a week ago I have captured 12 of the little buggers, sometimes two at a time. It works great! My only complaint is that the lid has a flimsy rivet to hold it on and act as a hinge, which worked for about a day. Fortunately, the lid snaps back on and works without the hinge, but it could be built a little better, which is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. In spite of the lid coming off because of the flimsy hinge, it still works like a charm and does what it is supposed to do. Now hopefully the voles will stop digging up my yard. I'll keep using it until I've got them all, but I never even imagined that I had 12 and I keep catching one or two every day.

Doesn't work
This product just doesn't work. The lid seemed to open to easily so I set a brick on top. I hoped to catch a rat or 2 nope the licked the peanut butter out of the trap without being trapped themselves.

Too small for rats
There’s no way an adult rat will fit into this thing. The product listing calls it a rat trap, but it’s a mouse trap. Unfortunate, because it seems well designed and well made — just needs to be bigger.

DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED!
Trap doors are very hard to push down and won't allow rodents inside...doesnt work as advertised.. and the trap arrived bent up in a couple places and past the return window. Will not buy ANYTHING from China again. I do NOT recommend this trap!

Tried a few sites where droppings had been left and didn't catch anything.
It's been sitting out for a couple months, baited with peanut butter and cat food. The trap may be too small for our rats, or they may be too smart.I moved on to glue traps, which also haven't caught anything yet. My rat-owning friends say the glue traps are cruel and recommended snap traps.
