Great for mycology
Works great for mycology, at first I was reluctant to get it due to some reviews but pulled the trigger and I have a 0% contamination on agar plates(pour and transfers). For me, I wipe the whole unit down with 70% isopropyl alcohol and let it run for like 5-10mins on the lowest setting and it works great. This is also accompanied with good sterile tek(gloves, mask, wipe down work area and disinfect the air). Good cheap alternative to a flow hood, which Iโm still going to buy when I get to that point(for more work space) but for now this does the job. Would definitely recommend.

Good product for hobbies.
It works well for a hobby like orchid seed sowing. It is not big, but it does the job

No contamination
Works extremely well for the intended purposes. Have not had any issues while using the flow hood. Much easier to use than a still box.

I was skeptical at first. No more fumbling around
I used this in mycology and it works. The air is a bit more turbulent than I would have wanted but the price is great. I am curious if there is a way to add a pre-filter in order to reduce the air flow enough to create a steady laminar flow. I also need a wire rack to lift the plates about 3 inches above the bottom. that is where I found the closest steady air flow that doesn't kill the flame. I have a still air box for my agar plates and I also have this. This has so far been a great help and my 20 plates have been clean. No issues. Yay.

too small
its really just way way too small for tissue culture. And one of the screws I hand tightened snapped off. Overall, not very impresses.

Works great.
A little smaller than I expected. Not a true hepa filter.

NOT laminar air flow
This is a filtered air flow hood. Better than open air but not better than a still air box. I'll keep it and see if it works better for clone work as I personally find using my sab challenging for clone work. The only reason I'm posting this review is because I was thought I was buying a laminar air flow hood and it's not. Don't take my word for it, do a bit of research on laminar air flow and look closely at how the air is entering the workspace and you'll see that it isn't even possible for this unit to deliver laminar air flow. IMO this is blatant false advertising

Decent unit, but better when modified
Not laminar flow, but I did modify it to be laminar. When testing the unit, my roommate noted that there was air coming out the top...I didn't believe them, and held a lighter up, then burned my hepa and part of the prefilter.... Ok, so they are half right upon further inspection. The DC fans have a large gap between the fan blade top and the duct. I replaced the fans with Noctua high static pressure fans, this helped a lot. Then I was sitting looking at the unit, trying to figure out how to get less turbulent airflow across the work area. It occurred to me that I could relocate the HEPA to the front oriented vertically I tried it and got a smooth flame bent at 45 degrees...just need a bit of RTV to seal the top and a little bit of higher work space above the blue silicone mat. If I had to do it again, I would just make my own unit....but this is pretty decent for small work area. Heres the link for the replacement filter in case anyone needs it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095WH84GB
