In Full Glory Reflected: Discovering the War of 1812 in the Chesapeake

A concise, well written history of the War of 1812 as fought on the Chesapeake Bay including the burning of Washington DC and the attack on Fort McHenry. The book's value to even the casual reader lies in telling the stories of the numerous raids conducted in the Bay by the British during the 1813 and 1814 campaign season as they raided up and down the Bay without serious American opposition.The second half of the book is a travel guide at allows those who wish to travel to the various locations area the Chesapeake Bay where the various actions took place.

I've read a lot of history books, but this one is outstanding. Full of illustrations, drawings, and maps. The narrative is concise and well written. If you're looking for a book depicting the events of the War of 1812 in the Chesapeake area, including the burning of Washington and the inspiration for the National Anthem, read this book. I even learned a lot of history I didn't know happened in that area of the country.It would be great if other states used this as a template for such events as the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and the initial growth of our country.

I have not finished reading the text.However just knowing that this is recorded history, i was able to use it in a presentation.The resistence of those held in human bondage, their willingness to take up armsto protect their families and the property and holdings of the Plantation owners fromthe British invasion was amazing.

Excellent book about the War of 1812 on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The illustrations and maps set the scene and help understand the battles at sea.

It was delivered promptly. The book is beautiful. I bought it for a young boy and mailed it to Governor O Malley who autographed it.

Great book, mentions lots of local places and history.
