No, the bag didn't come with any freezer packs.

Is this too babeeish for 3rd grader?

I don't think it would be my 3rd grade daughter got one very similar just a different pattern and she loves it. it is very spacious too

Nothing has spilt out of it yet. It got rained on and the interior stayed dry and I wash it every other week on a cold cycle in the washing machine and air dry and it's held up great.

Does this lunch box have a detachable shoulder strap and outside pocket?

I have the same lunchbox in the transportation. It does not have a shoulder strap but it does have an outside pocket that zips.
