Amazing!!
Alright, so here's the deal. I normally don't write many reviews but I had to for this because of the few negative reviews that made me a bit hesitant to buy this product. If you want to skip all this mumbo jumbo just skip to the last little paragraph. I'm a broke college student with two dogs AND two cats. My place is a never ending mess. I clean one mess up and turn around to another one. My dogs spend a lot of their day rolling around outside in the dirt before coming inside to get it all over my furniture. The cats, well, they are just cats doing cat things. Even with constantly washing my dogs and vacuuming the dog hair off my couch, I began to notice a dark appearance where the dogs like to lay on the couch. I love them too much to kick them off the couch (this is their home just as much as it is mine) so I came to the conclusion that I needed a carpet cleaner. I didn't want to spend over a hundred dollars on a carpet cleaner so I was looking at smaller cleaners like this one. The reviews scared me. Leaks, the rubber rubbing off, arriving with water having sat in the machine and not to mention I couldn't find one review on how this thing handled against pet hair. I decided to take the chance. Prime shipping so I was very excited to see it at my gate two days later. It was packaged nicely and it was COMPLETELY dry. I put it to the test immediately. Like a few reviews said, the solution tank does leak a bit. No problem. I can clean up a few drips of cleaning solution. The recovery tank does not drip at all. I would have been a lot more upset having the dirty water tank leak. Initially, when I placed the solution tank onto the unit, water began to pour EVERYWHERE. I was disappointed. I felt like I had just wasted $80 but I wasn't ready to give up. The answer was simple. The bottom of the solution tank has a rubber ring on it meant to keep water from overflowing once you put it on the unit. I eased it off and turned it around. No more mess. It was too simple of a fix to even complain about. Overall, I am beyond happy with this machine. The solution tank leak is the only true issue that Hoover could work on but it's not enough of an issue to keep me from using this machine. I've had no bad experiences with the red rubber piece rubbing off on my furniture and I've been aggressive with it. The suction is wonderful and has yet to disappoint. My favorite part of this machine is its ability to keep up with all the hair from my double coated German Shepherd as well as the rest of my animals. The self cleaning is icing on this wonderful cake. Self clean, open everything up the dry and then it's ready to be put away. If the scary reviews make you hesitant, maybe this one will help a little. I was impressed by this little machine. Thanks Hoover!

Easy to use
This extractor works great. I used Meguiars carpet cleaner for my vehicle and cleaned up the carpets really good. It's very easy to use and the self cleaning port is a nice touch so the hose doesn't stay dirty.

Hoover Spotless vs. Bissel Little Green Clean Machine
I mostly use these small machines for automotive interior cleaning, and the occasional spot cleaning an area rug. For years I have used a Bissel little green machine I purchased in the 90's (still working too). But I loaned that out and have not been able to clean my automobile carpet for a while now. So in comes the new Hoover, The Hoover seems to have more suction power than the Bissel. Which may be a good thing for the Hoover as it just dumps the solution out in a heavy spray. The Bissel gave a finer, light spray which I prefer as it did not soak the area. So, suction good, solution spray bad. The Hoover solution tank has to be turned on its face and filled through the back. The measurement marks are for when the tank is in its upright position. So you fill it, lift and look, tilt and fill, lift and look. I guesstimate that when filling to the top line, while at the kitchen tap filling with warm water, leave it about 1/2" from the back sides surface will get you to the top "Large Mess (0.4 Gallon)" line. Once attached to the machine, a trigger pull gets the solution in no time. The Bissel has a bottle (remember this is a 90's machine and not like what they sell today) That gets disconnected from a hose. Fill it and pull the hose up from its well, attach to bottle, turn over and drop the bottle in. If the machine ran dry of solution, it was a bit of work to get it flowing again. The trigger for the solution on the Hoover is a bit large and easy to hit, even when you don't want to. Fill and measure for the Hoover loses. getting solution to flow wins. The country has gone to the dogs, so everything is about pets. The pet cleaning solution I threw away and purchased Hoover's Deep Clean and Restore. This seems to work as well as the Bissel solution I would use. Always use a cleaning machine solution as products like Purple Power for instance will foam a lot and make a mess in the recovery tank. The Pleasure Nub on the tool head is worthless. I don't have pets and I don't shed. I had to take a toothbrush to spots to loosen the stains. After the very first use, I went to Hoover and found a bristle attachment (see uploaded image). Now I can give the person their toothbrush back. Would have been very nice if Hoover packaged both the nub and brush in with the machine (or preferably just the brush attachment). But it makes sense to package only the nubs and solution that are more useless to many so they will have to purchase what is of better use. The world was not gaga over dogs when I purchased my Bissel so it came with the right stuff to start with. The Hoover solution tank is nicer than the old Bissel. They are both easy to remove, but the Bissel was open and could easily spill if you let it get too full. Hoover for the win. Even though carpets look clean and you vacuum them often enough. Walking through parking lots and other places picks up filth on your shoes. The uploaded image of a recovery tank shows what came out of clean looking automotive carpet. Cleaning the hose is great! I always clean my machines after use. The Bissel I would run the water hose and tough the vacuum head to the stream. Had to do this lightly so not to put a strain from the heavy flow onto the machine. Hoover, add some plain water to the tank, remove cleaning head, hold in back of machine and turn it on. Once the solution tank is empty, with the machine still running, I hold the hose up high and shake allowing as much moisture to get drawn into the recovery tank from the hose as possible. Now that I have my brush attachment which I had to purchase separately. All that is left that I don't like is the heavy solution spray. But I am still glad I made the purchase.

Highly Recommend Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner
We used the BISSELL Little Green Machine before we discovered this powerhouse, and we will never go back! The machine itself is sturdy and appears to be made with quality materials. Out of the box, it took only minutes to assemble. Regarding its cleaning power, it does an excellent job cleaning a variety of different types of materials. Thus far, I have used it to clean both of our mattresses, our basement couch (which collects a lot of dog hair), the carpet on the stairs, and the interiors of both of our cars. The soap tank empties relatively quickly withs good water output, but it has great suction power and does not leave the cleaned surface wet. For the price, this product is well worth the purchase.

This was a spot cleaner I loved, and then the updated version somehow was even better!
I have three cats, and two of them barf quite a bit. Any cat owner knows... they will move to carpeting to barf, rather than barf on a hard surface. Why make it easier for their staff? That's not how cats work! Us puny humans exist to serve them, but they do not feel a need to make our jobs easy! But I digress. I originally bought this cleaner back in October of 2021. I loved it. I used it very frequently, and it did an amazing job on spot cleaning the carpeting - even on the white carpeting in basement. ...why would anyone put white carpeting in the basement?!? I don't know, but that's what was there when we bought the house! About a month ago, I noticed that the fill cap on the solution tank was cracked. This wasn't a huge problem, so long as you held the tank upright as you carried it. Once it was in the machine, there was no leakage. I did look to see if I could order a replacement part from Hoover. Much to my dismay, the $3 replacement part was out of stock (supply chain issues, I'm sure). I decided to take a stab in the dark, and I emailed their customer service department to see if they actually had an extra fill cap just laying around the warehouse. They did not have the part, but they offered to do a full warranty replacement! I went through those motions, and they sent me the replacement, which happened to be the updated model. Listen, I loved the one I originally bought, but somehow... they made it even better! They corrected few minor design flaws (some of which were mentioned on the original reviews I read): 1) The rubber on the original tool was red, and when I first started using it, it could leave a bit of pink behind on the white carpeting. After it was broken in, I stopped having the issue. But, on the upgraded model, they changed the rubber to a very light gray - problem solved! I didn't have to go through the same breaking in period! 2) The dirty water tank IS SO MUCH EASIER TO EMPTY AND CLEAN NOW! On the orginal version I purchased, cleaning the dirty tank properly involved quite a few steps, and could take more than just a little bit of time. You had to disassemble it pretty throughly, and use brushes to get in there and really clean it out. With this uprade, it takes a fraction of the time to clean the tank, and is super easy! It's just a release of a latch, you pour out the dirty water, you rinse it out in the sink, you put it back together! Bing, bang, boom, easy peasy! If you have a bunch of little anarchists (I mean, furry overlords!) living with you, this machine is a huge help in cleaning up their messes. It does a really excellent job. Hoover's customer service was amazing, and I think they really listened to the criticisms about the previous model, and they made some really great changes to a machine that I already loved - and somehow made it better!

Poor design - do NOT buy
I started using this unit this morning, I was actually incredibly pleased with the suction and the hose itself. I had doubted that the construction of the hose and the spot where the water spews out would clean well, but surprisingly it works great. I took a break for about an hour and when I tried filling the tank back up, the water started pouring straight out of the bottom, like there is no longer suction or anything holding the water in. I thought maybe I could fill it, hold it sideways, and just click it in the unit and still use it, but it's impossible. As soon as I put the solution tank over the unit it just pours water on it and then continues to leak out the bottom. The entire solution tank dumped onto my carpet within about 30 seconds. There were mixed reviews on this product, but I decided to go for it, thinking maybe the bad reviews were defective units. I think there must be a design flaw here, as there is nothing to hold the water in and there were no pieces that broke or fell off. I'm incredibly bummed, as $100 is a lot for me to spend. Amazon does not return this automatically, I spent half the day on hold with Hoover and Amazon and am having to jump through hoops to "see what they can do." ***UPDATE - I actually got a replacement unit from Hoover....had the exact same problem. I ended up throwing it away. A few years later I decided to buy the unit again (desperate for a carpet cleaner specifically for stairs, not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on one), and I think I figured out the issue. IMPORTANT! The instructions tell you to add hot water to the unit, specifically a temperature that is decently hot. I've been putting cold water in the unit instead and it works perfectly. I believe the issue is when you add hot water it causes the plug to defect and disengage, which results in the water just pouring out.

ALMOsT perfect
Oh what a joy it is to need to clean carpets, with rainy season, teenagers, a puppy and cream colored rugs... My stairs were the complaint of my house, but then we got a puppy. So here it goes. First of all, this thing is super easy to use, good cord length, very self explanatory, add water to one tank, plus cleaning solution, attach head and you're off and cleaning. I will truthfully say, I didn't expect what this little power house did. My bar was set relatively low but I needed to try it. I filled the tank and when the tank was empty, the dirty water tank WAS dirty, yay, but what impressed me was the fact that the dirty water tank was nearly as full as the clean water tank was when I started. Not exact of course but close! This tells me that my rugs will dry quickly and that the suction on this is excellent. I used it with the Hoover restore carpet cleaner, although it did come with sample bottles, I didn't know and I had ordered the shampoo. Every single spot is gone. Every single spot! I have so much more to tell you. Ok so the little suction head thingy has these rubbery silicone material teeth below the sucky area so when you're moving the head it actually lifts the pile and makes your rug all fluffy. I knew from the description that the hose was self cleaning but man that's just cool. So it's time to clean up, I go to the sink, open up the bottom of the dirty tank, which I could have just opened the little easy empty tab but, well, I wanted to see how well I could clean it up. I want it to last. Every single part was cleanable! I mean every part, so I take of the bottom of the dirty tank, rinse those parts and pieces, disconnect the sucky head, run how water through that, when I see the tab, even THAT opens more to fully rinse it out, then I push the hose (without the head) into the self cleaning part, hit the power button and I see the remaining clean water rush through the hose and into the dirty tank. So I rinsed the tank again. Next time I'll do that step before I empty the dirty tank. Nice, neat, tidy and compact so it fit right on the shelf in my garage. But I do have one tiny kind of complaint. When pressing the trigger to spray out the cleaning solution, it doesn't totally just stop spraying when I let go of the trigger so I had to press the other side to stop it. If you don't love holding down the trigger, this could be a cool feature for you, but for me, I press when I want it to spray and let go when I don't. Its almost like an on/off switch, on to spray, but I had to press the "off" side to stop. Overall very very happy. It removed way more water from the rug than my big full sized machine. I'm a fan. Hope this helps.
