Great box for pfSense.
Lots of connectivity. Surprisingly quiet for a 1u with 3 40mm fans in it. Still a little loud to have out in the open, but ok in a closet.

Won't boot, POST doesn't complete, with DIMMA4 error message.
I installed 128GB RAM in a supported configuration (4x 32GB DIMM, DDR4 ECC-Registered 2133MHz) but the system won't POST, it shows this error message on the screen:Channel configuration is not supportedDIMMA4This error is not documented in the manual, a web search turns up nothing, and I've gotten no response from [email protected] so far.

Nice unit with typical 1U/2U issues with RAID drive cable spacing
If you're just going to use a M.2 drive this will be a great solution. I have many SuperMicro cases/motherboards/servers that have served me well. This unit does have a common frustration. The HDD/SSD drive mounting does not allow space for the raid cables between the front of the drive and the motherboard. If it had a 2x drive per bracket you could put a single drive in the top slot and get it to work but this comes with the 1x drive per bracket. In my pictures I have a Intel enterprise SAS SSD in the bracket and I'm either going to break the cable forcing it to bend almost 90 degrees and/or bend stuff on the motherboard. The built in SATA power cables are 90 degree with the correct orientation but you'll need a 90 degree SATA cable if you're going that route. There are probably 90 degree SAS raid cables out there but they aren't included in kits and are an extra expense. I think the easiest work around is to toss the brackets and just command strip the drives to either the bottom or possible the top lid. This really should have the HDD bracket facing front to back to allow for cable spacing.

Used for PFSense in CARP mode
I run two of these in a production environment with PFSense in CARP/failover mode. We run 8GB of ram in each box and each have a 128GB M.2 SSD. These devices are beasts when used as firewalls. We run many IPSec VPN's as well as Suricata, Geoblocking etc. These firewalls never break a sweat and take everything I throw at them.
