Q: Would these do good outside? With rain?

They’re on my covered front porch and doing fine for more than 6 mo. I don’t think I would put them outside in the weather

Q: what size candles do u recommend/

You could a 6" pillar candle alone or a smaller candle on a pillar holder in the larger lantern and about a 3 or 4" one in the smaller.

Q: will a 6" dia. candle fit in lantern?

Yes in the big one. I used 3 smaller and different heights in mine. It is a really nice lantern set.

Q: what color is it?is it gray?

It's a pewter metallic color. They work well with the design in my family room because I have leather, so it helps give it an industrial look. They are very nice.
