Easy to use, long lasting & effective!
These are great ice packs! I fractured my shoulder pretty badly in December. I decided against surgery, so recovery is going to be long and painful. Ice has proven to be one of the best pain control methods for me, so I needed to find an ice pack that was convenient (even when I was by myself), stable and long lasting. Blue gel packs get warm pretty quickly and always seem to pick up stale freezer smells. Those stinky ice packs are a particular problem when they’re sitting on your shoulder and the smell is constant! I tried the “waterproof” fabric bags with the screw on lid, but they are difficult to fill with one hand and I had a hard time twisting the top of the bag to keep the air out while screwing on the lid. If I didn’t get the lid perfectly, it leaked all over me. The ice pack I was given at the hospital worked great, so I was happy to find identical ice packs here on Amazon. I chose these bags because they are reasonably priced, they are exactly the same size as the one that worked from the hospital and they could be delivered quickly. I’m REALLY glad I chose these! They worked so well that I just bought a second pack. They are easy to fill without help. I can hold the bag open with my bad arm (without moving it) and fill it from a bowl of ice I get from the fridge dispenser. The bag top folds over easily and the fastener clicks shut with minimal effort. I use my bad arm to steady it and my good arm to close it. It’s easy to fill and close even with limited mobility. The ice stays cold for quite a while - even when it’s mostly water! The material conducts the cold nicely and I don’t have to put a towel on my skin to keep it from getting too cold. The size is perfect. The pain extends from my shoulder to my elbow, so I’m able to lay it vertically to cover my entire upper arm and shoulder. I use a pillow to prop up my arm while sitting or resting and that’s enough to also hold the ice pack in place. If I’m going to be up and around, I can use the ties on the corners to secure it around my neck and arm. It stays in place quite nicely! I’ve noticed that the ice packs last about 5 days or so with heavy use. After that time, water starts to seep from the seams - usually the bottom seam, but sometimes different areas. I’m ok with that. They aren’t designed to last forever - that’s why they come in a multipack! The Dr said my recovery will take about a year, so I anticipate many more purchases of these well designed, effective ice packs.

Very good ice packs
Easy to use , very nice for knee , shoulder , or ankle injuries. Good to use many times. They hold a lot of ice and keep it cold for a long time . The ties help you secure it in place . A very good value that I will replace when mine wear out because ice therapy really helps reduce my pain. I've been using mine for months now and they are still in great shape.

Best ice bags
Purchased for my mom who had a port put in for future chemo treatments and this is the exact same ice bag they gave her after the port surgery. She loved it so much and requested that I see if we could find some to keep at home. These are awesome, do the job, and do not leak all over you like a zip lock style bag would.

OK but they do leak
I got these because they are similar to the one the casualty gave me. I thought they'd be better than my usual ice bag using a zip lock. The zip lock leaks. But so does this one. And the cloth cover reduces the cold effect. Maybe this is good to avoid burning the skin with too much cold. But then the pain reducing effect of the ice is also reduced. Too much in my opinion. This is for a broken clavicle which is very painful. Maybe for mild muscle strains this would work fine. I went back to my zip lock bag. The pain reduction is a relief.

Might actually be better quality than the brand I was looking for
I received the product yesterday and tested it out ice my thumb (2 weeks post fusion). I was using a really old bag from a hospital or surgery center before I finally decided to order these. The fabric on the old one was starting to (okay it was more than just starting to) wear out and it would start leaking as the ice melted. Finally threw it away the evening before yesterday, knowing I was getting more and not really expecting them to be as good quality as the other bag originally had been. But to my surprise, these seem like they are maybe a little better quality and the fabric seems a little thicker, so I’m hoping it won’t wear out so quickly. Not that the other one wore out quickly, it was still working in a pinch except when the ice melted. I just think these might end up being the better quality ones. I bought a pack of 2, so I have 10 ice bags and these should last me a lifetime. The clamp on the first bag is a little harder to open, but it seems like it is more durable. The size is about the same as most hospital or surgery center ice bags I’ve used. I don’t usually review products the day after I receive them but I have been using my first ice bag all night and much of the day, and I know a good ice bag when I see it.

Must have! Only use these for ice packs now
These refillable ice packs are amazing, I have ordered more so that I can hand them out to everyone I know (lol im serious). I love not having to store ice packs in the freezer, plus it's nice that they are a little thick so you don't need like a plastic bag with a towel. so you can store it very easily in a suitcase, fill it up with ice anywhere you go, and they have strings which make it super convenient to tie for your shoulder or your knee if you are driving or at your desk. And they don't leak and are super affordable!

They were okay
I bought these to go on a cruise overseas after having knee surgery. Cabins don't have a freezer so i couldn't take a regular ice pack. They worked okay but the could leak pretty easy. If you are in a pinch, they are fine.
