KomalC 16 Inch Leather briefcase Laptop Messenger Bags for Men and Women Best Office Satchel Bag

First let me say that this is the "first" Amazon review I've ever done of a product. So here's my take on the "KomalC 16 Inch Retro Buffalo Hunter Vintage Leather Laptop Messenger Bag Office Briefcase College Bag For Men and Women" (Wow, that's a long title! You might think about shortening it Komal. :-D) I was looking for an airline personal carry-on...one defined by certain characteristics such as (1) quality (2) functionality (3) durability (4) and affordability. And hey, it wouldn't hurt if it had that "cool factor" too. And being a guy who didn't know a "Messenger Bag" from a "Saddlebag"...finding such an item was not an easy task. Heck, I was about three hours into my online search before I even knew what a "Messenger Bag" was. But after educating myself a bit, I decided on this particular "KomalC Leather Carry-on." It seemed to have everything I was looking for. But hey, you just never know until the item arrives. So I decided to purchase it while keeping my digital fingers crossed. Shipping was great. It arrived very quickly...in just 2-3 days. It was packaged well and even had a personal "Thank You" note from Komal...as well as how to care for the leather product in the future. (Nice touch) As to the characteristics I was looking for in a personal carry-on. (1) Quality: Yep, it doesn't seem "cheap" at all. Instead, it feels like the designers used top-notch material all throughout it. (2) Functionality: I was surprised at how big the bag is. Not that it's something you're going to pack tons of clothes into...but it functions great for my needs, kind of like a leather briefcase that I can sling over my shoulders. The "base" of it is not that wide, but that's okay...I wasn't planning on using it as a suitcase...though a "really" light packer might get away with that. You can easily fit pens, papers, a few books, a few other odds-and-ends...and a 15" Laptop in it. I had to check the laptop fit, because the last carry-on I bought (and returned) said it fit a 15" laptop..but didn't. This one actually does fit one. An added bonus that I don't think was mentioned in the original description is that there is an attached piece of leather stitched onto the back that lets you slide this bag over a rolling carry-on you might have, so that it rests on top of your rolling luggage. This is a good feature if you'd rather roll with it rather than sling its strap over your shoulder. A few final thoughts on "functionality." I like the fact that on a cramped airline, it will easily fit in the overhead storage cabin, under the seat in front of you, or on your lap. No problem there at all. (3) Durability: I guess this has a lot to do with the "quality" mentioned earlier. I haven't had this bag long, so it's hard to speak to that. But it does feel like a leather product that will last a lifetime. If it's well taken care of, I expect that to be the case. It has that feel of "durability." You'll hear from me if it turns out to be different. :-) (4) Affordability: I know most of us are on a budget these days...but regarding this item, I'd say you could easily spend a lot more on another personal carry-on...and get a lot less. It's not dirt-cheap, but then again...it doesn't cost a few hundred dollars either. I personally think it's a great buy at the price-point it's at now. (5) The "Cool Factor." Gotta say this fills-the-bill. I think (just like the word "cool")..."leather" never really goes out of style. This carry-on is not too big...not too small...and looks very cool. I even like the scent of the fresh leather. You might be tempted a time-or-two to bring it to your face and inhale. (Okay...don't laugh. Trust me...you will). :-D Finally, my review here has more to do with my use of it as a "carry-on". But I have no-doubt it would work great as a college bag or one used for various other business purposes. Okay, that's about it. I have no "dog in this hunt"...just wanted to share a few of my own thoughts regarding this KomalC Messenger Bag and hopefully save you a lot of time searching for something better. (***** UPDATE 5/2/2023 ****** Here is my update 2 years after purchasing this bag and I feel that it is safe to say that this bad had exceeded all that I hoped for in a briefcase bag. Just as expected, the true nature of the leather had come out through natural wear and usage and daily life. I use this bag every day in and out of the office and even on trips and it has truly held up its end of the bargain. I can't say it enough, KOMAL has really made a remarkable product and has held true to making an amazing product and remaining affordable. Truly, if you want a great product then I would say you've found your product for life right here in KomalC products line. I will upload pictures of my bag after 2 yes of heavy use and you will truly think I just bought this bag yesterday. (**** UPDATE 5/13/2021 **** All i have to say is WOW!!!! I am officially a customer for life. I had the issue posted with the shoulder strap ring tearing and I also made the second recommendation about adding the additional cushioning to the laptop sleeve in my bag and Komal had the updates and fixes in place within days! The bag was immediately upgraded and fixed and adding even further quality to these already super high quality bags. I know and understand that products are going to have defects from time to time but Komal took these serious and immediately took action and I have never been happier with a product, or company as much as I am with Komal and the KomalC line. Please consider making this brand your next and only stop for bags, luggage etc... moving forward. (*** UPDATE 4/22/2021*** I have 2 items, one needs to be fixed and the other is a recommendation. 1) As the photo shows, the leather piece that holds the shoulder strap harness ring is already tearing. This really should have 2 pieces of leather sewen together for durability. This item needs to be fixed. 2.) The cushioning used for the laptop pocket divider should be used on both sides of the laptop pocket as well as on the bottom of the pocket. This is the recommendation.) I was a bit skeptical when I ordered this bag as I have ordered other Full grain leather bags and products in the past expecting it to a a nice and thick leather only to find it is the thinnest "Full Grain leather" that can be found. NOT this bag! It was the very lovely thick full grain leather that seems to have very nice durable stitching with the exact texture that I have been looking for in all of my leather products. I have used a leather cleaner / conditioner on my bag 2 to 3 times already and that is just to allow the real texture to "shine" through and also to soften it up just a bit as it is a bit stiff once first purchased. I am in love with the distressed texture, look, and size of the bag overall. I have been using this bag for over a month already and I am still very much so impressed with it. I will take some time to use it further and I will write another review after using it for a year or more.

This is a handsome bag, and an extreme value at under $100. I would have been happy with this bag at twice the price! I went with the larger 15” bag because I was looking to replace my trusty OGIO Renegade Laptop Backpack with something more professional and stylish, so I needed some room. This bag is the perfect size to hold everything I need to take into meetings, and still fits perfectly beneath an airplane seat. The Renegade has been relegated to backup status, and will serve me well when I need to pack in “extras”. I always travel with my Bose QC35’s and either of the front pockets are perfect for storing them safely. While there are no dedicated business card pockets, the two interior pockets are serving me well in that capacity. I’ve bundled my business cards, and obtained a couple of small pouches for extras like USB thumb drives, small cables etc. They all fit in the interior pockets, and are keeping things organized. The laptop compartment is working just fine for my small Microsoft Surface, with just enough room for the charging brick in there as well. At first I didn’t like the idea of having them in the same compartment, but it’s actually worked out quite well. The retention strap does a fine job of keeping that pocked closed, and I don’t think I’ll have any issues with my Surface, or the charger ever wriggling out of that compartment. The strap is adequate for carrying the bag, and the construction is fantastic. I’ve got no issues with zippers, stitching or leather quality. In fact, this is a very handsome bag, right out of the box. I did opt to condition the leather, as I prefer the deep rich brown color, and protection that comes with conditioning with a quality leather conditioner. I own quite a few leather goods that are over 10 years old, and they still look new as I condition them annually at a minimum. The photo shown was taken during the conditioning process. You can see the deep rich brown on the body and front pockets (the shiny spots will go away as the conditioner adsorbs into the leather) as well as the original distressed finish on the main flap and straps. It’s beautiful either way. If you’re considering a leather laptop or messenger bag, and are concerned that the price is too good to be true, I’d say give it a shot. I am very happy with my purchase.

I should begin, with noting that having been approved for the Amazon Visa card, I received $70 off my Sleep on Latex, and Leggett and Platt motorized bed, to fit inside my Tommy Bahama poster bed. Surfing through the briefcase department, I came upon the new line of Komal C passion line of rugged cases. This brief, had great reviews. I own many cases, including a bullet proof, but no "casual" style. I thought this over; Loved the style, reviews, all the space, the protective notebook padding, great stitching, and the wonderful leather smell. When I went to pay, I found the button to use the points I had earned from the Amazon card. WOW, this bag, that could easily cost hundreds more, was covered. It arrived in a couple of days, I waterproofed it, and checked out how beautiful it was. Everywhere I went, the complements followed. This is a brief that an accidental scuff is a touch of class. Not like my Hartmann. Beautiful, thick, cowhide. Perfect stitching, and high quality hardware. Wow, this is man's man brief. You can carry this dressed up, or down. Now that is 5 stars! UPDATE; I purchased this briefcase in 2017, and have used with reckless abandon for 2 years now. It has out lived several other briefs, thrown about, and treated without kid gloves. I should be ashamed, but, despite riding in the passenger seat of my BMW Z4, with the top down, in the brutal Florida sun, this bag could easily be thought of as new. As two years have passed, absolutely nothing has gone amiss! The only mistreatment I could imagine is having it tossed out of the car at 60 mph, which my bulletproof case suffered, when left on rooftop. I have a dent for that stupidity. I love this briefcase! I love the Buffalo leather smell, that lingers on. Despite the unforgivable lack of care, this briefcase is one of the finest purchases I have ever made. It reminds me of a first class saddle. I thought it appropriate to write a follow up note, as well meaning people review items right out of the box. I, however, can attest to years of hard use. This briefcase is an excellent find, and less expensive now. Not that it was costly before. It is worth more than 5 stars. Then and now. I would bet this piece will be passed on to the next generation. It is rare to find good quality, in a disposable world. I love to find a luxury piece without the price, that can be lived with without ginger hands. Just simple care and a lifetime of confidence. Purchase without hesitation! UPDATE Aprill,2022: This bag was $90 back in 2017, and it has been worth every penny since. I have purchased many of the Komel C products as the years pass, and I am so fortunate to say that every piece has stood the test of time, even in my crazy life. If not for my housekeeper, you would call me hopeless. She calls me worse. If you are old enough to remember the luggage commercials with chimps throwing luggage around, my lifestyle is pretty close. It will soon be 5 years with this briefcase, and it looks like the day it came through the front door. It has traveled around the world a few times, and even sat out on the tarmac in a monsoon in the Philippines. I would love to see my fancy Italian bag survive that. I am over the moon with this brief. This is the bag that made me a faithful customer,and whenever a new style hits the market I find some reason to collect it. My home office smells like leather, and I love it!

The craftsmenship of this bag far exceeded my expectations, with the adjustable strap.. you can wear it anyway you want, I love that I can carry my laptop and any other devices in it..great storage capacity, there's was no noticeable odor aside from the smell of leather (which I love) and the zipper along with the buckles work perfectly.. Overall this is a perfect messenger bag wether you are a writer or not🤭 so enjoy the look, feel and convenience this bag offers.. Take a dive into the past as you strap into this bag..close your eyes and think of simpler times..this bag will make your trip a memorable one😉🫶🏻

I have waited till now to write a review of this product so it would be thorough and provide an accurate and honest review. If you are anything like me you probably spend hours on here comparing items before making a decision to purchase an item. That is exactly what I did with this bag and I initially decided on the 18" bag from Komal. I purchased it and I must admit it was a beautiful bag, rustic, leather, well made with obvious attention to detail. It was however, for my purposes, too large. I have a Mac Book Pro 13" laptop and wanted to be able to carry several school books and computer peripherals, pens, markers and such. Kind of looking for an all in one bag. I returned the bag with no hassle and ordered this 15" with the two exterior pockets. The exchange went smoothly and the new bag fits my need perfectly. The color is not exactly as the one pictured, it is actually slightly less rustic and worn looking but over time I think it will be very similar. The interior computer pocket is padded nicely although I would like to see a bit more padding on the external wall it certainly is not unprotected. Komal includes a personally signed letter with each bag to be sure that you are satisfied and to ask that you contact them directly with any issues so that they can make any needed corrections. I had one problem with the bag, a small thread was sticking out one of the bottom seams (picture included). I contacted Komal who quickly got back to me and explained it was a loose thread from the stitching on the interior lining which normally would be snipped and singed at production. She said it would be fine to just cut it and singe it with a lighter which I have done and you can see in the subsequent photo. The seams are all tight and well approximated. The brass fittings are all heavy-duty and well attached. The leather is thick, supple and durable. The interior is lined with brown canvas. I have attached pictures for you to see what I currently have in it and that there is still some room left. Overall, I can't say enough about this bag. I never focused much on things like this and don't usually write much in reviews but I felt I had to with this one to acknowledge the quality of the bag and of Komal to stand behind her product (I'm assuming gender here based on a google search). Still looks as good as the day I got it if not a little better. I like the slightly worn look for older leather. No complaints at all and glad I chose this one.

I was looking for a functional, grunge-capable traveling briefcase that would still look classy, if a bit retro, with wear and tear. But I was also looking for something presentable enough that I could walk into a C-level meeting or a legislative hearing, and feel good about my road-worn, but classy, bag. So far so good. This travels well. It is not too heavy (tare weight). It holds just enough, but is also limited enough to make be think twice before loading it up with files and reading materials I'll never touch on a given trip. I was at first dubious about the big front pockets. I thought they looked a bit bulky, too "pouchy", but I was wrong. They actually are quite functional, and I have fairly naturally allocated things like sunglasses, earpiece case, and other quick-access items into those pockets. They are not as vulnerable to tip-overs and pour-outs as I first imagined. I also like the slip-click-snap closures. It's a clever combination of a buckle, which does function as a variable-length fastener, and the quick-click feature of the slip-fastener. It works quite well. They are well designed and well built, and do not present a fumbling burden when you're in a hurry to slap everything together and catch a flight or rush out to the next meeting. I'm waiting to report on the durability of the leather and how it looks after a few thousands of miles. This bag is going to plop down at airports, get tossed into the back of taxis, rough it with the backpack at way outback locations, and still walk into those legislative hearings (after a dusting off) and look calm, cool and collected, like its owner who wears suits and cowboy boots to meetings. It's toughly made, and the leather is good quality. I saddle-soaped it immediately, and it sucked it up quickly. So, I would admonish anyone buying this bag to get some leather treatment on it immediately, and keep applying it regularly to keep it supple. As with all genuine leather products, it takes TLC. But the fundamentals are good, the seams are strong and the hardware is well mounted. So, I think you could buy this with confidence that it's going to last and take a beating, while still looking ruggedly classy after a bunch of working miles. What else would I buy? I think if I'm going to buy another travel briefcase, I would go upscale to an entirely different level. Like a Wall, or similar. But those are $400 minimum, and I'm perfectly happy to have this bag be my road companion for the great price.

A beautiful bag and a very positive buying experience. Komal answered most (yet not all) of my email questions, and did so in a timely manner. The bag is a beautiful piece of leather, and very well made. The stitching and manufacture is all first-rate. Everything, from the strap, to the buckles, to the slide-in closures feels like it's high quality. The leather is, almost with out exception, beautiful, soft, and a joy to see or touch, so it's a gorgeous bag, and easily the equivalent of ones selling in stores for 4X the price. (Yes, I know you've read that before in these ratings, but I had to say it again) The design of the bag works well, in that the pockets on the front are large enough to hold the charger and cables for my Macbook, and the pockets on the inside are large enough to hold one's glasses, or a pencil case. The bag will expand to fit a generous amount of content, files, binders, whatever, without appearing to be 'boxy' like some leather bags can look. Thus, it will hold a lot of stuff, but will close down slightly when I just have a few small items in it so it's not like carrying a breadbox on my shoulder. However, having enthused thus, I would have preferred to actually give it a 4.8/5 rating, which wasn't an option. There are a couple of places where the leather is of lesser quality, however, those are in places which are not easily visible, like the inside of the front flap or the side of one of the front pockets. In those places, it's not as critical to the appearance of the bag, so it's not a big issue. There are also a couple of ways in which I feel the design could be improved with minimal cost: First, the wide portion of the strap should be a bit longer, for comfort and ease of use. It's a bit short. Also, the underside of that wide part should be of rough leather, not smooth. That way, it would stay on the shoulder more easily while walking. Second, the compartment wall on which the inner pockets are located is of thin fabric, so the weight of a group of pens or other items would make it sag into bag. Again, not a big issue, but some reinforcement there would be nice. Third, the front pockets are a good size, but when the bag flops over, items can slip out, so it would be nice to have the option of zipper closures on these. When I received the bag, it was a lovely chocolate brown. I decided to treat it with mink oil, as recommended by Komal. The mink oil does make it lovely and soft, without feeling greasy. However, it darkened it a couple of shades. This is not the manufacturer's responsibility, of course, but I purchased a bag which was chocolate brown, and after treatment, it was a very dark brown, almost black in places. However, I believed that some waterproofing treatment was necessary. Just something to be aware of. Overall, though, I heartily recommend this bag and this manufacturer. You won't be disappointed!

No se puede pedir más por su precio: un bolso de piel auténtica hecho a mano, con varios compartimentos y muy elegante. Las fotos del producto no le hacen justicia. Me decidí a pedirlo ya que era el número 1 en Amazon USA. He quedado absolutamente maravillado al verlo en persona. Cabe mi portátil de 15'' perfectamente. Volvería a comprarlo sin duda.

Ich habe lange Gezögert ob ich mir diese Tasche Erlauben möchte... Lieferung war Super Schnell und Gut Verpackt inkl eines Jute/Leinensack`s ! Die Tasche macht einen Super Eindruck , Innen mit (vermutlich) Baumwolle Robuste Fächern , als erste Aktion nach dem Auspacken habe ich die Tasche mit Lederfett ordentlich eingerieben , es ist Leder und Braucht entsprechende Pflege ! Dadurch änderte sich ein wenig die Farbe ins Dunkle was in meinen Augen die Tasche noch weiter aufwertet ! Platzangebot innen erstaunlich großzügig , ich benutze allerdings keinen Laptop , sondern ein iPad welches in einer Schutzhülle dort sicher unter gebracht ist , in den anderen Fächern bekomme ich ganz bequem meinen Overear Kopfhörer und eine Butterdose unter , es sind im Augenblick noch reichlich Fächer frei welche sicher im Laufe der Zeit noch das ein oder andere aufnehmen werden was ich Regelmäßig zur Arbeit mitnehmen muss/möchte ! Der Umhängeriemen ist echt lang so das ich etwa auf die Hälfte eingestellt habe ,ich bin nicht so sehr Klein , aber über den Boden muß ich auch nicht nicht hinter mir schleifen wollen ! Sollte ich irgendwann mal wieder eine brauchen kann ich diese Bedenkenlos empfehlen & würde schauen ob ich noch hier erhalten kann ! Die Tasche kommt nicht aus Fernost und ist auch echt gut Verarbeitet , die Nähte sehen prima aus ....

Borsa di ottima fattura, vera pelle, pratica proprio perche non ci sono le solite cerniere. Nel mio caso, non potendo utilizzare una mano per via di un intervento questa borsa risulta comoda. Molto elegante.

This is marvellous product. In an age of flimsy yet often expensive bags and cases made of vulnerable and cheap man-made materials, this case is the antidote. The leather is very thick, smells lovely, correct and natural, and the design is rugged elegant and practical. I am delighted that the manufacturers elected to use a clever fastener, that incorporates both a buckle and quick release fastener. This means you can use the buckles to adjust the strap lengths, but the fasteners to quickly open and close the case. Inside is lined with a lovely canvass, in a complimentary colour, plus there are lots of sections and pockets. The two pockets on the front are very generous, and the zipped pouch on the back means you don't have to open the case when in a hurry. This case is a lovely piece of traditional workmanship, and top notch natural materials, at home equally in the bush or the boardroom. All this at this price point is amazing. Should last forever if you feed the leather every now and then, and will patinate beautifully.
