The notorious Nissan/Infiniti VVEL knock/tick had decided to pay me a very prominent visit and decided to overstay its welcome. I've tried PUP, which helped a little but sheered eventually. Then I tried M1, which instantly made all noises worse and vibrations more pronounced. Then after an exhausting research, I stumbled upon this Redline Ester oil. Where do i even start? The same day after switching to this oil, the VVEL noises started disappearing! As the days went on, the noise is almost completely gone and RPMs are lower and smoother? Im still in awe. This truly is a miracle oil! Will be my permanent oil until this car fails me. Highly recommend to any VQ37VHR owners looking to remidy noises, its definitely worth a try!

If you want to know how good this oil is you're better off watching a lab test comparison on YT. Oil doesn't make your car run good, it doesn't make it more powerful, it doesn't make it idle smoother. It can make some noises go away, but that's almost always a sign that the oil that was in it before was worn out or not correct for the application, OR that something is already worn out, and the new oil is covering that up (not fixing it). What oil does is keep your engine from wearing out. It cannot make your engine better, it only stops it from getting worse. How good of oil you use and how often you change it will determine how long it's able to do that. So my review leads to here, I'm not a chemical lab, I can't show you how good the oil *is*, but I can describe how it has worked for me. I've got a few cars, and I take care of them all a little different. My every day car that gets all the miles and maintenance is a little 2.0L Suzuki inline 4. As of this review the car has right at 200,000 miles, most driven moderately, some driven pretty spiritedly 😉 I've only used redline in the engine since I took ownership and in my opinion (20 years full time shop mechanic) it runs exactly as I would expect a new one to. No smoke, no ticks, no knocks, no rattles, no VVT errors, valve lash stays in spec with no adjustment every time I check. Those are the things oil is meant to protect against, and in my 200,000mi real world experiment I would say it is protecting against them very well. It is pricey compared to most other options, but if you're keeping it for the long run, quality oil changed on time is the cheapest and most effective warranty you can buy.

This is without a doubt the best motor oil on the market. Over the years I've used various different brands of synthetic including Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, Pennzoil Platinum, & Liqui Moly just to name a few, and Redline is the only brand I've tried that made the VQ37VHR motor in my Infiniti Q50 run smoother and quieter. I went from Mobil 1 Extended Performance to Redline and I immediately noticed smoother and quieter acceleration, and during idle the engine is barely audible. I have also noticed a slight improvement in fuel economy as well. It's hard to believe that going from one motor oil to another in the same viscosity could make any noticeable difference in engine operation but in my case it definitely did because the engine really does feel happier and healthier with the Redline oil. There's also a lot of good information out there that shows Redline oil can actually reduce oil temperatures as well as keep your engine cleaner. And the added detergents, ZDDP, molybdenum and ester molecules can really help to reduce friction & engine wear and keep the engine clean over time. But the synthetic ester base is what really makes the difference between Redline and all of the other motor oils out there, and it's what also accounts for the increase in price. The only downside is it's expensive when compared to most of the other synthetic brands out there, but this is an Ester-based Group V synthetic motor oil that is aviation grade, and you get what you pay for. For me it's worth spending the extra $15 per oil change and I'm definitely not planning on switching to any other motor oil again as long as the Redline continues to perform this good.
