Q: Can you shut the water off and on with the handle?

Yes you can. When you are not pushing the button on the sprayer, water does not flow. This is a safety feature so you don’t get water where you do not want it. You can get the hair wet, set the sprayer and hose on the side of the basin to apply shampoo and wash hair. Easily pick up the sprayer again and press the button to rinse the hair.

Hi Nancy, The basin has a two part air valve. 1. You need to connect the outer air valve into the inner valve (this will prevent the air from escaping when using the pump.) 2. The outer valve has a cap. Unplug the cap from the outer valve (make sure the outer valve is still connected to the inner valve). 3. Insert the air pump into the outer valve. 4. Plug the cap back into the outer valve. To let the air out just unplug the outer valve from the inner valve. Hope this helps.
