Q: what age is this appropriate for

Naturally, each child is different, but generally this set is appropriate for elementary aged children. The value of this kit is greatly magnified by a teacher or adult that is guiding the learning experience.

Q: How many magnets come in this kit?

My kits are in my classroom, but from my memory there are: 5 small disk magnets and 1 magnetized pole, 3 ball magnets, 1 horseshoe magnet with magnetic keeper, small dish of iron filings, small steel rod and wire for making electromagnets, bag of plastic disks with metal around circumference, the book and a 2.5 inch styrofoam disk for one of the experiments in the book, also has a cardboard magnetic field measurement chart. Q: Does this have any experiments meant to convey the concept of magnetic pull force?

Yes, it definitely has, with different types of magnets. Overall a very well done and instructive experiment set for youngsters.

Q: What is the strength of the electromagnet?

I'm not sure if you're looking for a specific measurement. If so- I don't know. The biggest magnet is about twice as strong as a kitchen magnet. Some of the others are about the same power. It was easy for my then six year old to use and he enjoyed it.
