Excellent Beef flavor and texture - good option for backpacking recipes
Bought for making backpacking meals, as a tastier (and better textured) option to hamburger gravel.Packaging was excellent, and the beef cubes re hydrated very well, and even had a "grain" to them like steak bites would. Tasted quite good and very beefy, even if the smell when dry and when unseasoned and re hydrated was a bit reminiscent of cat food. Planning to use them in steak fajitas on the trail with dehydrated veggies.Repacked into mylar bags for better single use in recipes. As far as value, I only got 14 1/2 cup servings out of the can, which brings the total to $2.86 per serving (as of Nov 2018) - getting close to Mountain House meals costs. Fortunately, the sodium is much better when making your own meals, so its still a healthier option.I will buy again once we use this up.

This product has a 25 yr shelf life if you intend to add it to your emergency food supply.
I ordered this to add to our emergency food supply after a friend had me taste the beef stew she made with it. It was delicious and I never would have known it was a freeze dried product. I intend to order the freeze dried chicken as well. Way to go Augason Farms.

Tasted Good
I was surprised that it actually tasted good. Tried adding it to freeze dried vegetables and made an excellent stew.

Lasts a long time
I bought a tub over a year ago and split it up and vacuum sealed into smaller amounts. I take a bag to work in a zip lock bag and store in my office along with dried veggies and ramen noodles for lunches in a pinch. I have kept zip lock bags in my office that took 2 months to use up and never noticed anything off and certainly didn't get sick. This stuff certainly isn't gourmet meat but for long term storage it is great for what it is.

Perfect for backpackers beef stew
I've found that throwing these into a boiling stew for 5 minutes or so rehydrates them plenty. These actually taste pretty good and have quite a nice bite to them!

Real good meat
I finally tried it and was surprised how good it is. When I first opened a jar I didn't like how it looked and smelled, but when you add some warm water it starts to smell like good meat and tasts great, like good quality meat. You can see real meat peice texture with some fat in there too.

Great
Add dash of beef 'Better than Bullion' to the water when rehydrating for 'beefy' flavor.

I only used it once and I didn't read the directions; I'm glad I have this product in my house. When I want to cook something that calls for beef i"ll have it.l
