I have used alcohol based markers, permanent markers and gel pens. I spray hairspray over canvas once completed to set the inks. Go to her website gallery to see what others have used. Make sure they are on canvas and not coloring pages. **Q: how do you get the glue off from the labeling on the sides of the art?** A: I think you need to ask for a replacement. It should be sealed in plastic. When you open it the cardboard just slips out. **Q: Would colored pencils work well with this canvas??** A: I used my prismacolor premier set on the seashell canvas just to experiment and I do not recommend. It looks nice but it will destroy your pencils. I did a matching one with the #coloring markers often suggested with these and it’s much better. The wood is not particle board, it is solid, real wood. They join the corners using a tounge and groove method and it is completely flat and level. The canvas is secured with A LOT of stapes, it does not move in the slightest. Behind the canvas itself is a piece of thick, hard cardboard which prevents any poking through by sharp pen or pencil tips. The print on this one is not too complicated and gives a lot of white space for you to use your imagination.
