Mr. Heater F278527 Pilot Assembly for Big Buddy,Multi

Was really pleased to find this available on Amazon. Try this if the heater pilot "sputters" and then the heater shuts down after about a minute or so. Crazy difficult to install in heater but worth the $ and effort. Works great. You need to have some mechanical aptitude to install this. If you can't change the oil in your own car, or replace a fuse, or think a Philips screwdriver is some sort of cocktail, don't attempt this. Go slow. Pause every now and then to take deep breaths or drink a beer. Pay special attention to not stressing the gas lines during disassembly, part replacement, and reassembly. Be sure the gas connection between this part and the gas supply line in the heater is snug. You do NOT need to fully disassemble the outer front of the heater from the frame to which this part is attached. After removing most of the screws, you can gently pry the two main components apart, remove the screw that holds this part in place, disconnect the gas line to the pilot light, pull the part out of the heater, replace it with the new part, plug in the wires, and reassemble the heater. You do NOT need to disconnect any gas lines other than the one to this part. In other words, don't disassemble the heater any more than what's necessary to replace the part. Before putting the new part in, try and apply compressed air to clean out the inside of the heater. A small magnet on a shaft type tool helps to retrieve and reposition screws during disassembly and reassembly. Breath in... Breath out...

I used this on my MH18b heater after it would light but stop working after a few minutes. Like others have said it is a little frustrating installing it but not bad to get the heater back working. I pulled the lower grate, rear panel, rear handle off and right side panel and was able to get to everything to swap it out. Definitely worth it

You better be a handy person to replace this. Alot of little screws. Patience is definitely needed. It fixed my not lighting problem. Took about an hour to install but definitely not for the faint of heart lol

Exact OEM replacement. Pain in the butt to install, not the items fault though. Fixed my heater that would go out after a few minutes of use, and cleaning the old one made no difference.

I had issues with factory assembly after a month . We have four here so I guess I had the pilot light that sucked. The new one works great and was a 10 minute install on big buddy / tough buddy . I see nightmare reviews on installation but it's simple with a phillips head and needle nose pliers. I worked it from the bottom of heater and it's a no brain process.

I got a new pilot assembly for my Mr. Heater Big Buddy from Amazon in one day.It was easy to replace once I broke down the heater. I put the heater back together and tested for leaks.This is the correct part and works great.

I'm surprised from a product liability standpoint that Amazon sells this... As previous reviewers have stated, we literally had to take the entire heater apart to install this part and it was nearly impossible to to reassemble. When we finished we had a few screws left over so I'm hoping that we put it back together correctly. The heater seems to work just fine now, just keeping our fingers crossed that it doesn't blow up on us or asphyxiate us because we didn't assemble it correctly!

To hard to get the area where I plugs in... way in back would have disassemble the whole thing... pain in the...ridiculous ... make it as hard as possible to replace... just buy a new unit... out $27

After reading reviews, I decided to try this to replace the pilot assembly on my Portable buddy even though its for the big buddy as it was cheaper and faster shipping. replaced the part and it works great.
