Fantastic! Feel like I found my way home.
Regarding Harney & Sons Japanese Sencha Tea: This loose leaf sencha tea is top quality! it's consistently light and sparkly/rich with a delightfully long and clean finish. And when I say long, I mean a lovely taste that lingers for many minutes after an each sip. No bitterness whatsoever, even on a long steep. I've had other sencha and jasmine teas as good, but I find they vary in quality, can be hard to find, are too expensive, not available in loose leaf, or go out of availability. The cup of Harney & Sons Japanese Sencha Tea now on my desk surprises me. I just found it in the back of my cupboard ... dated 2022! That says a lot about its longevity, the airtightness of the tin, and/or that somehow this tea ages like a fine cabernet! Somehow my new tries had pushed it to the back, and now their destined for the compost heap. Brewing is simple. I steep slightly less than a level tea spoon for 4 to 6 minutes. Second and third steeping produce very nice, slightly different tasting cups. Love steeping in my favorite tea infuser/strainer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CFQW79K8?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_12 I'd take off a star for not being organic, but some who want a great cup don't share that concern.

Pleasant and drinkable authentic green tea
This is a very nice sencha green tea with leaves sourced from Shizuoka, Japan, and packaged in New York at the Harney factory. The tin came with two vacuum sealed foil packages. The leaves look as high quality as direct imports from Japanese companies (for example Ocha). The flavor and aroma of a brewed cup are mild and herbal, which is how I like it, and the tea feels silky and full as you drink. There is no “grassy” flavor, but you have to brew it right. 165 degree water steeping for no more than two minutes. Go too hot or too long, and you will get an unpleasant grassy taste. This will happen with all green tea. I have an electric kettle with a built in thermometer, and I brew this in a 100% clay kyusu teapot. Yes I am pretentious about my tea, life is too short not to be. ;) Bottom line is this is a great price for a sencha tea that ultimately holds up against “fancier” direct imports.

Really "Green" Tea
Further proof that tastes vary. Yes, this is a quality green tea and it does have a decent flavor. I know sencha is supposed to be "vegetal", but this is a bit much for me. Harvey's does make an enjoyable loose leaf green tea seeping if not done for too long. The lighter the better for me in this case. I also purchased this to use in my new matcha machine since quality tencha leaves are so hard to come by. It grinds well and makes a passable matcha -- though not on par with ceremonial grade pre-ground teas or even many of the culinary grade. If a green tea with lots of umami is your thing, then H&S do it right here. It is a good tea. It may be a bit overwhelming for some however. If you tend to like black, puh-er and darker oolong teas, then this may not be for you. ~ Kort

This is gyokuro, not sencha
I'm a bit of a japanese green tea connoisseur and was excited to get a decent sencha, based on the ratings. However, I was a bit disappointed to find that this is not sencha, it's gyokuro, a rarer and stronger japanese green tea. But it's a weak gyokuro. Since gyokuro is typically expensive, this is a very good price. But if you're looking for a good sencha, this is not it.

Distinctive flavor in a green tea that is as it says -- truly green
As "The Man" has said in the first review posted on Amazon, this Japanese Sencha tea by Harney and Sons is the real thing. To compare it with bags of Lipton, Salada, or Tetley green tea would be foolish because this is a completely different beverage in every way. First, it looks different. Those other teas have a brownish color; the Harney tea actually looks like what it says it is -- Green tea. Also, the Harney tea has green leaves, not the powder in the bagged teas mentioned. Next, the taste: the bag teas are mild in flavor -- nothing objectionable about them, but nothing distinctive either. Now distinctive is the word for the Harney tea. After steeping it for two or three minutes, a full, rich flavor can be tasted that is unmistakably green tea. I put lemon, honey, and dried cherries in the tea and the flavor still comes through loud and clear, unlike the bagged teas that are not strong enough to be tasted when lemon and honey are added. BTW, adding lemon and honey provides extra health benefits to green tea, a beverage noted for promoting good health and well being. Google green tea, lemon, and honey for the evidence on this previous statement. For those readers used to bagged teas. the Harney Sencha may take some getting used to. I suggest a shorter brewing period to begin with until the reader of this review adapts to the full flavor of this excellent tea. If the reader tries the tea, please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Simple, clean, and mild
It comes in a vacuum-sealed pouch inside the tin; the tea is quite nice, it's not overly dry like most teas I've had in the past. Not sure if that's good or not, but it's a nice, easy to drink tea with a mild flavour. It's not overly grassy or anything, I really do like this tea.

the best!
It has a "deep green" flavor that is like kelp or dulse and makes me think of the sea. Very tasty to my palette. Much better than all the other green teas I have tried over the years.

Doesn't taste like grass
This is the best sencha tea I tasted so far. It's soft, tasty, not bitter, and it doesn't taste like grass.
