Great tool - fun, functional and affordable
Surprisingly accurate and easy to operate. Works great with GSPro. I know there are many other options as this has been out for awhile, but I can’t really see spending more for my needs, which is to improve my game and have fun with my son in the winter. Really a game changer for us at a low entry point- couldn’t be happier. Only concern is slow connectivity at times/ can miss tracking some shots, and distance appears less than reality as compared to real course performance. Regardless, this is a great little tool at a terrific price.

Overall great, backspin RPM reads high for Drivers
I am a scratch golfer with 30yrs experience. This is a great little device for entry level shot statistics. It sets up quickly and easily. The Garmin app is required for use with optional subscription for additional features. I have now used this device enough times to test different clubs. I find that the carry distances are quite accurate with wedges and short irons. Longer clubs read short. I hit a bucket of balls of Drivers today and compared a $3000 Bushnell Foresight unit to the R10. It picked up every shot, even poor ones. I found the ball speed to be spot on. The launch angles were very close also. The big discrepancy comes with the back spin; the R10 had readings ranging from 500-1700RPMs too high. This caused the carry distance readings to be short. All in all a nice unit at this price point, but will not provide accurate spin measures so calculated carry distance will be off. So if you’re looking for accurate carry numbers, you will need a higher quality launch monitor. I was really only interested in ball speed measurements and this unit does the trick for that well.

A Game-Changer for Golfers!
I’ve been using the Garmin Approach R10 for a few weeks now, and it’s been a game-changer for my practice sessions. The portability is fantastic—I can easily take it from my living room to the driving range without any hassle. Setup is straightforward, and pairing with the Garmin Golf app unlocks a ton of useful features. The accuracy is impressive for a device in this price range: club head speed within ±3 mph, ball speed ±1 mph, and launch angle ±1 degree. These metrics have helped me understand my swing better and work on consistency. The training mode is great for tracking stats per club, and the shot dispersion chart really gives insight into ball flight tendencies. One of my favorite features is the automatic video recording when paired with a smartphone. Seeing my swing alongside the data is incredibly helpful for making adjustments. Plus, the virtual rounds feature is a fun bonus—playing on over 42,000 courses from home keeps practice engaging. Battery life is solid at around 10 hours, and the included phone mount is a nice touch for easy viewing. The IPX7 waterproof rating means I don’t worry about light rain at the range. Pros: Portable and easy to set up Accurate metrics for serious improvement Video integration with swing data Virtual rounds and global leaderboard add fun Long battery life Cons: Requires subscription for full virtual play features Needs good lighting indoors for best results Overall, if you’re looking to improve your game and want flexibility to practice anywhere, the Garmin Approach R10 is worth every penny.

It is what it is... a $500 launch monitor! Great Product Support! Great Value!
You have to like the price of this device and it is good Garmin is finally getting them back in stock. Now that I have used the product outdoors at the range I am updating my review and have added another star. The R10 works very well as long as you take the time to set it up properly which is true of all launch monitors. I did not have any other monitors to check the results but had a friend use a range finder to check distances and they were very close. I did not pay for the subscription yet but I believe it could be used to simulate play at a course in Home Tee Hero with good results. I also want COMMEND the product support team they have worked with to attempt to resolve the issues I have had using the monitor indoors. Using the Garmin Approach R10 indoors returns data well under what I should be seeing, by at least 20%. I am an older golfer and the one time I had access to a TrackMan it clocked my swing speed between 65 & 70mph so maybe the algorithms used in R10 penalize slower swings compared to others. If so, I can hope a firmware or app update fixes addresses this. Another shortcoming I have found is how many missed shots there are when the clubs speeds drop below 30mph. I think that it tries to allow for a pre-swing waggle and as a result ignores short, slow chip like swings. Even below 40mph some the data that is calculated can be missing but it usually captures most shots above 30mph. This could really impact the ability to use this device in an indoor simulation as chipping would be much more difficult. The R10 has no way to capture putting so in the simulation it assigns a number of putting strokes based on distance from the pin, I knew this ahead of my purchase and have no issue with it. (I forgot to check this on the range so not sure if it is an indoor only thing or something I am doing wrong, the YouTubers don't seem to have this issue) If I get that fixed it will be 5 stars for sure. On the plus side other than distance and carry being short, the data the R10 spits out is consistent and appears to be correct based on what I am seeing while using it. Shots that go to the right of my target are reported as that direction, same for pulled shots that go to the left. On the driving range app it is a little difficult to tell if there is a draw or a slice, just that it was offline and by how much. Since it is radar-based lighting has no effect, so using it in a dimly lit garage should not be a problem or affect the data since technically you should be able to use it in the dark. In the end I am glad that I bought it and will continue to use it during practice. At this price point I doubt there is a better product for the mid to high handicapper looking for feedback on how they struck the ball. If you buy one make sure you update the firmware as that can make a huge difference depending on when the device was built. And once again product support has been excellent and continues to be quite responsive.

36 month Review from a +3 handicap
After 11 months using this product inside and outside, comparing data side by side to Trackman at Club Champion, this product is more than worth its price and is nearly identical to trackman #’s. When using the simulator indoors, I highly encourage the Titleist RCT golf balls or any other simulator radar ball, as it accurately tracks spin due to the reflective layer underneath the balls cover. If you don’t have these balls, it’s an algorithm to estimate spin which can be misleading to true spin numbers. If you’re trying to fit yourself for a new driver, you need those golf balls. Without these balls, my spin was estimated to be around 4,000 RPM which i know is inaccurate. Once i put the balls in play, my spin dropped to my expected 1900-2200 number at 114 mph club head speed. I was using the r10 with the E6 simulator software and it’s fantastic. The interface is already built in the garmin app, you just need a computer that can run the software. I’ve used awesome golf and it wasn’t realistic enough for me. E6 is LIDAR based and has a yearly subscription that is reasonable. I’m using a gaming computer and have no issues. Again, the RCT balls accurately track spin, even on chips via the E6 or GSPro software. It wasn’t tracking this on chips (showed 0rpm spin) until I put these balls in place. I now use GSPro with my gaming PC. Another fantastic software. I feel it’s more up to date and more realistic than E6, but the data output to ball flight is the effectively the same. While there is not a direct API connection via the app, the garmin unit supports Bluetooth connection via PC, and GSPro has created an interface that allows you to connect everything via PC. It works flawlessly. The attached video is running GSPro My yardages are spot on to my exact carry numbers. I don't ever focus on total distance as that is always misleading for any simulator. I have found that optimal indoor lightning is absolutely necessary for the simulator to capture each swing. I also have found over time that indoors, a fan or ceramic heater causes connectivity issues / reading issues. I’m not sure if this is just me, but is something to note. You need ample room (about 8 feet) for the garmin to be able to capture the RCT ball spin #. The further out you’re able to go, the more accurate the reading. The best thing about the garmin unit is ability to modify elevation, humidity, and temperature within the garmin app when using the garmin range or built in garmin courses. If using E6 software or GSPro, you can only modify elevation which is still hugely important. This is BIG!!! Golfers underestimate all three of these factors when playing golf. There are a lot of weekend hacks on youtube that can't use launch monitors to their fullest capacity, and I can genuinely say this is a great unit as I’ve been using it since it was released. I feel you can benefit from this unit and would highly recommend if you’re a data golfer like myself.

Perfect Launch Monitor - WHEN IT WORKS
I really dreaded writing this review, because I desperately wanted to love this monitor. I purchased this monitor solely for the metrics it can give (ball speed, spin, launch angle, path, etc). At $600, this puts the monitor in the incredibly affordable range and an absolute deal. So, why is the review one star? When the monitor works, it's awesome. All of the measurements are within reasonable margins with Trackman4, the main differences seeming to be spin rate and ball speed, which again, are well withing reasonable margins of error. Here's my biggest gripe with the R10. Way more often than not, the monitor will not pick up the shot and I can't even start my session. I consider myself relatively tech savvy and understand that the monitor has to be within a certain distance of the ball AND directly behind the ball and the target line. I've also tried different software/firmware versions to see if it would improve the rate at which shots are registered. I have ripped my hair out trying to get this thing to work. I have even gone to lengths of using a laser to ensure that the R10 and golf ball is in-line with my target and the damn thing STILL will not recognize that I am hitting a golf shot. I understand that this is incredibly cheap and affordable in the realm of launch monitors, but it is still a very difficult $600 pill to swallow when the tech doesn't even work more than 50% of the time. Therefore, not only do I not recommend this product, but I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a lunch monitor.

Game Changer -The Must Read Review
My son and his family of 5 kids have had the R10 for 2 years with excellent results. I truly can't beat my 7 year old grandson because he shoots even par from the red tees. And I average 78 from the white tees. So, to get better, I purchased the R100 in November 2025 for home set up using a $159 short throw projector connected to my phone. I also take the R10 to the range to validate club distances. Very reliable and accurate tracking. Please stay with me till the end of the review for the "Game changer". The R10 is simple to set up by following the app with instructions. The Garmin app provided in November 2025 purchase was LAME, with poor graphics quality, so I downloaded another competitor app for $14.99 per month. Hold the PRESSES!!! Garmin just launched a new app called "Home Tee Hero". It works perfectly with the R10 and is a game changer at $9.99 per month or $99.00 for 1yr. Home Tee Hero 43,000 courses, including Augusta National, the graphics are amazing, the greens show contours, and each shot shows all shot tracking data. The in-app weekly competitions seem to match the weekly PGA Tournament golf courses so you can play right along with the pros. The Garmin R10 with Home Tee Hero (sold separately) is a real game changer in the home simulator market segment.

Great for this price point
I have had this Garmin R10 for 2 months now and love it. My wife and I have played many rounds on the awesome golf app. If you are looking to practice and play a few rounds it works great. However, sometimes the accuracy is questionable and it doesn’t always read chip shots. For this price, it does everything I’m looking to do.

Does a decent job for the price
Fantastic but of kit for the price for any budding golf nerd. Lots of data to assist working on things like angle of attack or club path/face. I've only used it a few times so far but compared to a top tracer range there were definitely some discrepancies especially at higher swing speeds and longer shots. Not rigourously tested against other devices yet though. Definitely worth the money compared to other launch monitors. Probably wouldn't use for a home simulator due to inaccuracy though.

I received an opened / returned unit
Received a unit that was clearly already used / tested by some other user; the product packaging was already opened, cables all already untangled, and most indicative: the protective plastic over the glossy radar surface had been peeled off (almost hilarious the other user left the plastic in the box too). If he hadn’t, I may not have known. Not sure if it’s a defective unit?

Golf simulator review.
Works great! I got it as a birthday gift for my husband—he’s a golf lover—and it’s accurate and perfect for an at-home golf simulator.
