How do the plastic hoops compare to bamboo hoops? I'm a beginner.

I purchased the plastic hoops because I grew frustrated with my bamboo hoop wrapped in twill tape for free motion embroidery and quilting. The top ring kept popping out. The plastic hoops are notched so that the top hoop fits into the groove on the bottom hoop. I no longer have the old problem of the hoops coming apart when working. My only concern with the plastic hoops is that you have to check for burrs on the plastic and file it down before using.

Has anyone used these with felt? Will they expand enough to hold this thicker fabric?

I use the two largest hoops for free motion quilting. The quilt sandwich consists of two layers of cotton fabric and batting in between. I am not even allowing for the added thickness of seams. These hoops should accommodate a single layer of felt. If you plan to use something thicker, using a longer screw could be used in lieu of the screw provided.

How are this for someone who has arthritis in there hands?

This was a gift for my sister in a nursing home. She has moderate arthritis in her hands. She was able to use these comfortably. She is 74 and typed 80 wpm for 40 years.

Love, love, love these hoops!

I absolutely adore these hoops! They're pretty, sturdy and so inexpensive and make your finished product look so cool! I've bought these 4 times and I like to keep a stockpile on hand. The only downside is there is a little bit of a learning curve on how to snap the inner hoop in. It has a little lip that sits in the bigger one. It makes it super secure and tight, but it just takes a little finesse to get it in. Once you get the hang of it though it's easy peasy. Buy these! 😁

Great price for these useful hoops! Even an unskilled sewer can benefit from using these.

My sewing skills are weak. Very weak. But with these locking hoops, a pocket is easy to sew and even get it straight. And you get six variable sized hoops for eight dollars, so it is an excellent value. They hold your fabric securely for stitching, embroidery, etc. Pretty colors, although that doesn't really effect their usage.
