Despite this, the black residue washes off easily from your hands with just some warm water & soap. Would recommend you use latex gloves or any generic type gloves if you want to avoid it.Another thing that may bother people is the chemical smell that comes from white side of the polishing cloth that is infused with the polishing agent. Definitely clean your jewelry in a well ventilated area with this polishing cloth if the smell bothers you.
